Realistic expectations for the season.

I thought we had a good chance to win the NFC this year, but that was because I thought our pass rush would be as good if not better than 2019. But now with our Dline playing so poorly and all the injuries at CB, I think we will miss the playoffs, and be around a 500 team, like 9-8 or 8-9. I mean where's Ebukam? Where's Ford? Bosa can't do everything himself.

Unfortunately I am thinking the next two games could be ugly without a solid pass rush and weak CB play against Wilson and Murray. I hope I am wrong.

My new prediction:

We still make the playoffs but after every loss our fanbase will continue to act like the sky is falling and we should just give up on the season. At the end of the year the NFL will bar the 49ers from using the word "faithful" as they should. Our new nickname will be the Faithless by the Bay.

The Packers had an average of 2 seconds from snap to pass. Name a D-line that is getting home in that amount of time.

I would be shocked if the Seahawks and Cards implemented the same quick release pass game with as much success.

Hahaha IDK if its the majority of the fanbase but the definitely the majority of the posters in here.

If you look at the gameday thread around halftime you would think this was a jaguars message board.

No playoffs. Green Bay ran the Seattle defense against us, that is - don't wait to understand where the ball is with all the motion, just start attacking the LOS. We'll see this approach weekly. On defense, teams will just wham and chip Nick Bosa because no need to double-team Kinlaw. Hell he comes out every other play. Ford isn't the Ford we knew in ... hey did you guys know it's NOT 2019? 49ers approaching this as if it is. No corners in a QB-heavy division with a less-than-dominant pass rush.

Party like it's 2022!

1 play away from 3-0 but go off queen!
I'm not saying we're a SB team because we don't look it but I'm keeping our expectations there for now. Right now we look like a wildcard team but Shanny should be able to fix the run game and the d is good enough to get by in 2021 if you can score. Who knows maybe we get hot at the right time.
The Cardinals are a Minnesota missed field goal away from 2-1. The 49ers would be 3-0 if Green Bay missed a field goal. Even with the flaws the 49ers took the lead with 37 seconds left. The team has a lot of fight in them; which hopefully benefits them. The next two weeks are huge. If they aren't 2-3 I think they will be fine.

Had super bowl hopes. But with our division, lack of pass rush, and no corners, I have a hard time seeing playoffs. These next two games are big, we play some great WR's and obviously extremely mobile QB's. I'm usually a very optimistic person but I see DK and Lockett eating all game long.
Zero chance at winning the Super Bowl. I'm already looking forward to the NBA season starting lol.

Need Trey Lance to be really good or this team will be screwed over the next several years.
I don't know how this team will finish but in some ways they might be better off if they miss the playoffs. It will force them to take a harder look at the personnel and make some tough decisions. They went into this season with high hopes based on just being healthy. Well that went south in a hurry with the RBs and DBs being wiped out. They need to address the DBs in free agency and with a couple of higher draft picks. Since 2017 they've selected 9 DBs but none higher than the 3rd round. That includes last season when the picked Thomas from Michigan even though he sat out last year. He doesn't look like he's ready to play again. Of the DBs picked since 2017 only Moore remains ( not counting the 2021 draft) and he's injured.

Time to get serious about theDBs.

They don't have the QBs for that, you're right.

Just have to make sure you get to them so they can't launch 50 yard bombs play after play, or escape for an easy run.

The Ramsey trade looks more and more brilliant for the Rams perspective and more and more stupid from our arrogant view.

We need CBs if we're ever gonna get the chip. I love DL, but we need CBs to make them have the opportunity to smash QBs.

This. I think Witherspoon was the other guy and he was trash.

The 49ers have mental fortitude we can all be proud of.

How many of you foresaw a 28-27 near win before Cannon returned that kick?

This team didn't start to win these types of games until 2019, and to be fair we sucked more against GB than we did in the opener against the Cards last year and had a better chance of beating the Pack than the Cards.

I still have a lot of faith in this team going forward, just need to fix certain pieces.

Yep. You need both. They traded for a top level stud. A proven stud. He makes the entire secondary better. For some reason we seem to think having pass rush solves everything. We just lost the super bowl with an elite pass rush b/c our db's f**ked up.

We lost to the Ravens after our db's made Flacco look like Montana. And we had a great pass rush that year as well. A great pass rush isn't getting home every play. guys still need to be able to cover.
