Things I learned tonight:
- Trey is a work in progress (duh ) he had some nice throws and some not so nice. He certainly wasn't helped by OL or WR.
- Richard Hightower is still terrible, yet remains employed
- Ritchie James and Travis Benjamin are done
- Single-digit numbers look lame in the pros
- There was a player on the Chiefs named DiCaprio Bootle, I almost died when I heard Greg Papa announce his name

And where would you find one this late in preseason?

Trade for Alex Bars from Chicago.
Watch the recording of the game. Two things that need to be fixed that I noticed. One is the special teams… it was not a good showing but it can improve before the season starts. The most worrisome part is the OL… the second team is just trash. Giving up four sacks in a preseason game when pass rush is vanilla is really bad. I am not sure if its OL coaching or talent but this might be too late to fix. If we lose any of our starters… our RB and QBs might not last long. This seems to be to be the biggest issue we might have going into the season. Let's hope for a miracle and they get better overtime.

A couple of sacks came from 5 and 6 man rushes and the others two were base 4 man rush. Lance was also pounded on a few of his passes. The second team online is bad, but I thought Lance could have escaped a couple of sacks if he saw his oline was beat a little earlier. Seems like something he will learn from reps, I hope.

Preseason sucks.
Just make it a 20 game regular season.
As for Trey Lance, what do you want to learn about him if you play him behind that s**tty second o-line with these s**tty receivers? Might as well keep him on the bench and not take the risk to see him being injured because of a failed block by an OL.
Protect your future.

Was thinking the exact same thing while watching him get sacked. Maybe coach is just toughening him up for now.

We won't get an honest assessment of Trey until he's in there with the one's.

He needs to develop pocket awareness. He just didn't see them coming.

He is not ready to start yet. 4 out of 15 is not good. Nor was not converting 3rd downs. Rosen was better. Jimmy was better. The kid has promise but needs time.

Saying that Rosen was better is wrong. Trey got sacked 4 times and was constantly under pressure. He just needs a better supporting cast (OL, WRs).

I haven't signed up for Game Pass yet so I was just able to see the highlights but based on that very small sample there were a couple of guys who seemed to stand out. I thought Jennings really helped himself on offense. I guess the knock on him has been his lack of speed but he looked like a stud on the handful of passes he caught. I hope he gets more opportunities against the Chargers. Also really liked Hufanga on defense. The guy always seems to be around the ball and demonstrated some solid tackling. The two rookie corners had their moments as well. Thomas looked solid against the guys he was covering. He 's another guy I would like to see going against another team's ones. And that was a wicked interception by Lenoir, really nice ball awareness. I also thought Hasty looked good and I liked that guy who was returning kicks. Didn't catch his name but I thought I heard the announcers say that he was another guy picked up from the Rams. There was a lot to like about this game. Look forward to seeing the rest of the pre-season. Go Niners!

Neither was throwing a checkdown pass on 3rd and 15.... let's stop this nonsense and give the rookie some credit for standing strong and Making some nice throws... How about we give him a chance with the 1s... better receivers and protection to help him out.

Trey did the same thing on third an 15. Exact same thing. Notice how nobody is dogging him? Because it's not a bad option rather than forcing a throw into bad situations. Hell Mahomes threw 3 yard check down on 3rd and 5 to get stuffed.

But, Jimmy is too cautious to throw it down field - at least Trey is willing to open up the offense.
