I just got done watching the game. A couple of DBs looked pretty good and Hasty ran well.

As far as Trey goes, there are things to improve but that TD throw was something we don't see with Jimmy. I'm not going to argue whether Jimmy has the arm strength or not. The point is we never see those from him. That ball was thrown from the 15 yard line to the opposing 45 yard line across the field. It didn't float in the air and it was right on the money. Enough said.

I think Trent Sherfield is our 3rd best WR. Definitely a keeper, better than Ritchie James for sure.

It's Jimmy's job to lose, I say.

And if he is named the starter. For his sake, he better not have another one of those "slow starts" like last year against Arizona Week 1. He needs to be firing on all cylinders against the Lions. God forbid we lose one of these earlier games. The chants for Trey will become too loud to ignore.

i think its sanus job tbh
The WR competition seems to be over:
Aiyuk, Deebo, Sanu, Sherfield, Jennings and Webster.

Richie James is done, he is not putting the effort on the field, Sherfield and Webster make him expendable.
Jalen Hurd is a what could've been, Jennings makes him expendable because he actually is practicing and playing football.
Benjamin is irrelevant he can't even consistently separate from Dontae Johnson in practice.
Cacraft is a PS guy and we better hope the team never needs him.
It was nice to watch Charlie Woerner growth as a blocker, route runner and catcher.
Banks and Moore need to grow before competing for starting jobs for sure. Some clueless fans are calling them out as if they weren't rookies.
Did not think Benjamin look interested in being out there.... I'm all for trying Webster.

Sure but completely blowing up a single play, which possibly could be the right play, is the point. No doubt Trey brings us a bigger element to stretch the field but sitting here acting like there's a huge selection of plays to run on 3rd and 15 is overly simplistic. As I said Trey did the same thing and nobody is hating on him because it's not a terrible play with such distance. As others have pointed out Jimmy led the league on 3rd down when healthy. Plenty of those were 3rd and long.

But, Jimmy does it all the time, not just on 3rd down. He's mister check down.

Jimmy has averaged over 8 yards a completion his career, which is pretty good, not to mention being one of the top qbs in the entire NFL on third down conversions. He's obviouslythe better quarterback right now. The kid has a way to go before he is ready to start. His pocket presence, and general awareness both need to improve before he will be ready to run the team. I think it'd just a matter of time, and practice. He's a smart kid, he will figure it out, I am sure.

The one thing i learned about that 50 yds in the air , 80yd TD, was …Sherfeld has serious talent and speed. He was not on my list of those making the team…i just reconsidered.

37 air yards, 43 YAC. It might have traveled 50 or so because of the dropback/rollout though. Makes me eager to see what he can improve between now and the next playing time he gets. Just needs to develop and continue to show improvement. He played pretty much how I expected, the physical talent is there, all he needs is time to develop into an NFL-ready product. I am optimistic after seeing how much his throwing mechanics and footwork improved during the break between OTA and camp. Can't wait for the next game to see how much better he looks.

It was 42 (14 to 46) plus you have to account for it going from the left to the right. It was over 50

I mean Webster came out of nowhere. But no denying he was immediate effective. Hurd vs. Webster, but Webster's ST ability is intriguing. We haven't had solid ST since Ted Ginn.

Not hating on the kid it is amazing that it ended where it needed to be, a testament to his arm strength despite the throw being wobbly and not a tight spiral. However, the coverage was closing in on Trent because of that, in other words he had to slow down

It is what they have said about Trent he is a favorite of both Jimmy and Trey in camp. That Jimmy has been him deep also. Trent has that deep ball ability to adjust. He is one of those you can probably overthrow him a little and he will go get and adjust like he did on that throw from Trey.

trey excuses? We got an honest impression of Trey last night. He's a rookie, and he looked the part. He'll need time to adjust to the NFL, like all rookies do. He has a big arm, which we knew. We didn't get to see his running ability yet, KS is saving that for the regular season. Trey needs time t react to what he's seeing out there. This will come around with more live action. Overall, he didn't do anything to dull the shine of a potential great NFL future. Also, there is no need to bag on JG just because Trey is your new favorite player. JG looked very good last night. This team is in a very good position to make a serious run this year. Here we go faithful. Buckle up!

Agreed, in Kyle's pressor he said what I felt that others who are getting ahead of themselves, you don't want a QB in easy situations, because then he won't get that experience of picking up blitzes or developing an understanding of pocket presence and feel for it to throw it away, go to a check down, or where his escape routes are to extend plays.

He will get in the game this year for situational, game lead, or because Jimmy will get nicked up. No need to rush the kid, let him develop mentally for the game, see what defense teams like to do.

It has worked a lot hall of fame SB QBs, let's look at the long term for our QB.
