The WR competition seems to be over:
Aiyuk, Deebo, Sanu, Sherfield, Jennings and Webster.

Richie James is done, he is not putting the effort on the field, Sherfield and Webster make him expendable.
Jalen Hurd is a what could've been, Jennings makes him expendable because he actually is practicing and playing football.
Benjamin is irrelevant he can't even consistently separate from Dontae Johnson in practice.
Cacraft is a PS guy and we better hope the team never needs him.

I mean Webster came out of nowhere. But no denying he was immediate effective. Hurd vs. Webster, but Webster's ST ability is intriguing. We haven't had solid ST since Ted Ginn.

Agree with all the above, but still hope we can sneak in Jalen Hurd-hate for a team from our division to pick him up and he heals and proves the front office right of his assessment.

Still want to see JJ and Webster against 1st team opponents

I was so Happy for Nsimba this game. Surreal seeing an old teammate from high school playing in the NFL, let alone with my favorite (and his favorite) team. He is gonna take Richie James spot

Perhaps if they keep just 2 QBs or just 3 TE they can squeeze Hurd. It'll depends on what he does the next 2 weeks.
By the way the plan was brilliant. Kyle didn't play 75% of the starters and only left in players who are fighting for roster or PS spots, starters who need to prove themselves, sophomore players, and rookies. Players who need as many snaps as possible to evaluate and study.

In one of the next 2 games the starters will play a couple of drives to knock off the rust, except those who are recovering from injury. But these rookies, who most if not all will begin as backups, need more playing time than anybody else.
Can Nsimba return punts?

Assuming they keep six and it's Deebo, Aiyuk, Sanu, Sherfield, Jennings, and James/Webster, my guess is Hurd ends up with a out-of-nowhere injury and ends up on injured reserve.

We've got a robust history of these phantom injuries at the last roster cut, and the new IR rules (no limit on the number of IR returns, and only 3 weeks minimum IR) incentivize abusing the system more than ever before.

If I'm not mistaken, the player must make your initial 53 to be elegible to come back from IR even with the new rules.
Richie James just blew his opportunity, Webster seems to be a better ST.
Jalen Hurd must be lights out the next two weeks in practice and games. He must get separation, catch the ball and block. The issue with Hurd is that he'd be the WR5 with no ST value and questionable durability. I always saw him like a chains mover, redzone target like Kendrick Bourne was.

Jimmy has averaged over 8 yards a completion his career, which is pretty good, not to mention being one of the top qbs in the entire NFL on third down conversions. He's obviouslythe better quarterback right now. The kid has a way to go before he is ready to start. His pocket presence, and general awareness both need to improve before he will be ready to run the team. I think it'd just a matter of time, and practice. He's a smart kid, he will figure it out, I am sure.

That's a problem that Jimmy has as well. The difference is Jimmy has had years to improve it and still has issues.
