Post-2nd Preseason Game: Who should QB1 be week 1?

Lance has not played in two years. If Jimmy G has a big year that would make three years without playing for Trey. He needs playing time.

If you're not getting better, you're getting worse. There's that.

Kyle also said all of the wr spots are open so I understand why he said #2……compete till the end

Seems pretty likely Jimmy will start week 1. I think if that wasn't the plan they would have probably given Jimmy more than one series tonight. I personally would start Trey though. IMO what he needs most is as many reps as possible. I just don't think that is what they end up doing.

imo he will start week 1 and continue to start if we continue to win. Struggles or gets hurt… here comes the kid!

it's really as simple as that.

I would play Trey Lance right now as starter. Assuming he can play at this level or a little above. After a very shaky, slow start he was very impressive IMO. He can just do so much more out there. So much stronger arm. At times really accurate. With a few misses too. But Jimmy has that. His legs can get the first down and buy time or get that 2 point conversion that was called back on a penalty. I just think there is more there even right now. Yeah is raw and confused at times. He even has some bad ball placement sometimes. But Jimmy has that too. Bad ball placement at times. I though he was better in game 2. Significantly so.

Trey Lance by a mile.

I voted Trey, but I can understand people voting for Jimmy. I like our Qb room either way.

Trey Lance. I haven't seen anything from Jimmy in the two preseason games or in Training Camp or in any of the games in 2020 or in the Super Bowl or in the Playoffs that makes me think that what he gives us is worth sitting Lance for.

Lance needs reps and I don't buy into this notion that starting him is going to harm him or his development.

I don't know, that's tough. I think as of now I'd still start Jimmy but the leash is very short.

Yeah Jimmy can run the offense better but Trey will give you the big play and running ability. Trey needs to play to improve. Start him.
