Post-2nd Preseason Game: Who should QB1 be week 1?

All I know is Jimmy will be broken goods if he gets benched. He better play lights out, and avoid that problem for everyone's benefit.
Would say Jimmy for now but Lance brings a whole different dimension to the offense.

Jimmy should be starter in 2021, and IF we win the SB should remain starter for 2022.

I agree with this 100%
I feel so bad for Jimmy. When he's healthy, he's a really good qb. Let's see what Jimmy can do in a full season with a full arsenal and a determined mindset. I just feel like he's soooo underappreciated.

Trey is a porche 928 and Jimmy is a VW bug.

imo he will start week 1 and continue to start if we continue to win. Struggles or gets hurt… here comes the kid!

it's really as simple as that.

This guy knows what's up

this is the best answer on here.

But surprised by the responses in this topic lol
Jimmy

I can't wait for Trey to put it all together consistently, though. Future's bright for sure.

Fixed
I understand Lance needs reps, but let him get those in isolated situations like the Saints did with Taysom Hill. Situational packages + garbage time will help ease him in.

Jimmy is IMO the clear-cut starter and most polished player. Lance can flash, but would no doubt cost us more games playing as a rookie than he would help us win, IMO, and that's all I need to know if I'm making the decision on who's starting.
lance
Trey did look better this pre-season in spots.....because he played longer. We also don't know what was game planned exactly regarding the two QBs.

If you're looking at the two QBs in vacuum, no game planning means more backyard ball ability counts. So obviously Trey is better at that.

Too much early judgment on Garoppolo's preseason. I think we'll know in a few weeks how good Jimmy will likely be this season.

If he can improve 15-20% off of 2019, we'll be in great shape this year.

Lance is the future no doubt, but no real reason to rush. If we had a s**t roster, then maybe I'd look at it differently.

But we don't.

Does anyone actually think Jimmy will improve? I honestly think I've seen peak Jimmy (2017 and some of 2019). But he's not consistent enough to maintain that level of effort for a full season. He's still throwing an INT per game and his deep ball accuracy is still subpar.

I do not
Right now...Jimmy.
