If you're about to attend your high school reunion and suddenly found a Ferrari sitting in your garage next to your Toyota Prius, which one are you going to drive? BE FVKN HONEST.
Or how about making smart decisions with your investment so you can actually afford to buy the Ferrari and know how to drive it instead of magically finding one in your garage and wrapping it around a tree on your way to impress all of your high school buddies
In this scenario it's not some schmuck behind the wheel but a real deal F1 driver in Shanahan.

Didn't vote but leaning Jimmy only because I'd like Trey to get more practice time as well as short appearances. But I'm not worried at all if we do have to start him sooner than anticipated.

There is that as well 😂

I might be in the minority but I like how Kyle is using Trey. He's using these meaningless games and making them meaningful by trying to develop the weaknesses in Trey's game. He knows Trey can run, he knows he can throw outside the pocket. I also like that so far he is keeping the Trey run packages a secret. If you are a lions coach or player you want to see these run plays from Trey so you could somewhat try to gameplan for it.

Agreed. I think at first the plan was to use Trey in zone read plays and a handful of other plays but it became evident that he picked up a lot of the playbook already so Kyle is seeing just how much he can handle and how he responds. I don't think he feels ready to hand over the keys just yet but it's gettting close. Plus there really isn't too much of a hurry.
Jimmy will be on a short leash but I think he starts the season with Trey getting more and more playing time week to week.

I'd go Lance week 1.
He's raw so it might be bumpy to start but I feel he'd gain more from playing than being on the bench. The biggest thing it seems like he needs is experience and real game reps is the best way to get that experience.
As far as his confidence and not ruining him mentally you have a strong defense and a strong running attack along with a great offensive mind at coach so you have all the elements to win games without everything being on his shoulders. He just needs to be a game manager to start and grow from there. I don't think starting a QB as a rookie is what ruins them mentally but a terrible support system around them is what derails careers.
My personal belief is our best shot at a title this season is with Lance and not Jimmy G. Despite 2019 I'm just not confident Jimmy G could lead the team back to a Super Bowl. The NFC West is tougher and the NFC teams that look to be playoff teams will be tougher.
And even if we don't win make it to the Super Bowl at least Lance will have 17 hopefully more games of experience to roll into next season. That gives him a ton of film to study and a clear picture of what he'll need to work on in the offseason to get better. Not just him but the coaches as well as that gives them 17+ games of data to analyse and see how they can better suit the offense to Lance or how they can evolve it further with him.

My thoughts exactly, though it will be more than 17 games, how many more will depend on how much Trey grows through the year, and obviously injury luck.

It maybe better for Trey if he starts week 1 but it might not be what is best for the team overall. I like the improvement I saw from Trey from game 1 to game 2 but he still has a few things left to tighten up on. Jimmy has had limited passing opportunities so far in pre season and it is hard to really get a gauge on him. Since game 3 is the dress rehearsal, he should get some extended playing time. Unless he looks straight up horrible, he should be QB1 come game 1 against Detroit.
If Shanny were to give Trey the nod, would Jimmy stay as the backup and mentor Trey this year or would he demand to be cut or traded? I honestly don't see Trey and Sudfeld as being better than Jimmy and Trey. So I would let Jimmy lose his starting role in a more natural way. Jimmy may not have all of the physical tools that Trey has but he knows this offense inside and out and really can help Trey grow as a starting NFL QB when it comes to the mental aspect of the game.

I voted Trey, but it's probably not realistic.
