A fantastic win, after just cleaning the floor with the LIons, and then when kyle subbed in the 2nd half, we dang near came close to losing a "laugher" in the first half. I agree with giving the starters a blow, but there is a good lesson here, for the entire coaching staff.
The good news is that the Detroit new HC has a 6 yr contract, not much talent, and darn near brot the team back from a blowout the first half. At the end of the day, our guys played well, and even tho a blowout in the first half, Detroit got some respect back from their play and coaching in the 2nd half…and most important of all, we got the W. Bottom line that is what we wanted.
Along the way , a lesson/reminder was never to take your foot off your opponent's neck. You have to balance that with just how much of a blow to give your starters. I'm just happy with the W, loved to see #25 Mitchell, and our O looked great. Was interesting how at start of game Demeco had us in the Wide 9 and Detroit just ran thru it like water thru a sieve. We ended up moving in tighter, however, and that stopped the runs up the gut.
A "W" plus some lessons learned. That's a good day for me. Verret…that was really unfortunate.
Good post.
only thing I would change is mix up the play calling when Trey is in there by doing the same plays as Jimmy.
Also I would have went with Hasty later in the game when Mitchell was getting stuffed.
Overall it was a good game. Yeah the Lions came back but the young rookies got some valuable playing time bc we were up so much. Thomas and Hufanga was in the game late.
