You could make the argument that at least this year and last that injuries will be the biggest part of those issues.

Are you saying lack of pass rush last year had nothing to do with our dearth of injuries? Lack of good play in the secondary this year would have nothing to do with injuries?

i am saying. those three things. esp run defense and secondary play played THE major factor in the almost loss,, that and kyle taking guys out. letting up off the gas,. the team ill prepared to get a on side kick and deebo fumbling...

What was Deebo and Elijah Mitchell supposed to do? Lay down after going through the gaping holes the Lions sorry D left open? We scored quickly because the Lions D sucked. They scored because we put our backups in vs. their starters. It's very simple. We won't have that problem vs the Eagles. We'll beat that ass the old fashioned way.

38-23 Niners
Thinking about going down to the "Takeover" on Saturday....anyone been to one? What's i like?
I'm about 5 hours away, but I'd go to a MiLB game Friday, Takeover Sat, and back home to NY for the game Sunday.

Sorry, its "49ers Invasion: Philadelphia"

38-23 Niners

I think their d-line will keep it closer and lower scoring. I think it'll be a 23-18 type game.

if we believe the theory or excuse floated by the niners is that players out of position and not doing their assignments led to the comeback and a near disaster loss .. those things should be fixed this week. a duel threat qb always gives us issues. i am know jacob fan but if he does not play we will struggle against the run again in my opinion. on offense we should be fine but i think the game is 31-28 either way. the biggest improvement is from game one to game two and the pressure is on the new dc in my opinion and while some gave most of the blame to the comeback last weekend on the refs. our pass rush. our run defense and our secondary has to stand on their own. i also know what happens when we arrogantly assume we will beat teams. like the eagles. our history shows we usually lose those games and they are not even games

First, I love how(I'm assuming it's your phone) keeps changing, 'javon" to, "Jacob", lol.

The biggest things I saw from watching the replay - again, I really, really wish I had the all-22 film, was that I can't necessarily blame any one person/thing for what happened. It was a crazy, crazy cascade of events.

They started pulling Bosa to not overwork him in a very unlikely comeback and then ran a lot of soft zone to force underneath throws that would keep the clock running. Remember, the clock doesn't stop when someone goes out of bounds until after the 2 min warning. The Lions got a big first down near mid-field due to a DPI call against Lenoir, then a few plays later Verrett gets hurt. Then they dink and dunk to a score with less than 2 min left in the game. They get the 2 pt conversion(50% chance in NFL) going after Johnson.

Then, they get the onside kick(6% chance in 2018, 12 % chance to recover in 2020) and then hit a sideline throw to set up inside the 5, get the TD and another 2 point conversion.

The odds of this happening are like winning a coin flip, rolling a 6 or an 8 in craps, then winning a coin flip again. We were playing the odds by a wide margin.

Well said. Sometimes when it rains, it pours. Glad we came out with the win. Good to see you back JD.
I just watched the Eagles game.

Their OL was incredible in run blocking moving the ATL DL back constantly and then the RB/QB just picked whichever hole was biggest.

Super short one-read throws with super quick YAC receivers. DL super active in pass rush too.

This is NOT going to be an easy one given our current weaknesses.

Their ST >>>> 49ers (we might get one blocked)

They did it against Atlanta who arguably had the worst defense in the league last year.

Kyle and Trent williams will remind the team of how they embarrassed us last year

This. Hoping the Niners inflict a little payback this Sunday.

I'm not looking at the quality of the opponent they played but their strengths.
Dontae Johnson has been promoted to the active roster lol.

I think it's hard to quantify their strengths right now with so many unknowns on that team until they actually face some decent competition. Falcons might land the #1 overall pick.
