But I stand by my statement that our team is the most feared in the west!

We have the best roster in the west even with Verrett and Mostert out. Homers are funny
Can't wait for the game !! I'll be there in sec 220.

You know we just los our top RB and top corner for the year right?

I personally wont let it get to me but there is plenty to not be too happy with regarding our strength going forward. Others are just flat out going to have to pick up the slack.

You just proved my point? Backups played so much in this game and that won't be the case in Philly. Bosa, Ford, Warner, K Williams, Tartt will be in so that will make a huge difference. What teams put in their backups???? I would say only the niners in week 1. Maybe the Cards or Saints for a bit but not to the degree that the niners did. I wish Shanny took out Verrett earlier and let Demo play.

Verrett loss is huge but good thing Philly has a bottom 5 wr group. Others like Demo and Mitchell can hopefully pick up the slack like you said.

I dunno, Davanta Smith was a beast at Alabama and looked really good vs ATL.

The Eagles Linebackers are horrible and the Dbacks including safeties are not much better. Kittle could have a monster game here. Remember he had 15 catches for 180 yards in last season's game vs the Eagles. They don't have a Linebacker or safety that could cover him. I am surprised Pitts didn't have a huge game on Sunday vs the Eagles. But maybe the playcalling was just horrible .

100%.
That and ATL didn't tie the run game success into the TE game. It's like they don't really know what they want to do on offense. They ran a lot of wide zone and were getting good success with it but they didn't capitalize. For example, if you're getting the WZ going like ATL did, the SAM will have to aggressively fill the C gap and the DE become a strong edge player to control the D gap with the corner being the force defender. When a team plays it like that(as opposed to having the SAM become the D gap player or a safety) You then look to get your TE on out breaking routes off play action as he'll have outside leverage - they didn't do that too often. When they hit Pitts on those routes, it was in straight drop backs. When they went PA, they attacked the hook area of the SAM, which doesn't put as much strain on that LB with how they were playing it.

Your best options when facing this style of play from the defense is to either hit some corner routes to the TE or slide concepts with the TE taking the crossing route as he'll slip behind the LB. They did neither.

If you do that, you force a change-up on defense and that's when you will open up the intermediate middle of the field for guys like Ridley - a la how we did it with Deebo vs the Lions.

what are your biggest concerns going into this game vs. Philly? also, do you plan to do breakdown videos or no?

If the NFL ever fixes gamepass, yes. I posted it on twitter but an article came out last saturday where the NFL was adjusting their timetable for fixing gamepass coaches film from right before the season started to the end of this week to early next week.

It's ridiculous. Other areas like the UK have coaches film up and running but the NFL somehow managed to make gamepass horrible in its interface over the course of 217 days between the SB and week 1. They added all these features not many people care about but broke coaches film.

EDIT: apparently they're going to run an in house test of the fix, "in the middle" of this week and then if it all runs smoothly, push it out. When exactly that means, Thursday, Friday or Saturday, no one knows. It's quite absurd how an organization with as much money as the NFL has so little care for the quality of the product yet has pushed for a 17 game season.

thanks for the rant

anyways,

what are your biggest concerns going into this game vs. Philly?

He will be a good wr but k Williams and our D are worlds better than Atlanta's cbs and D. Context matters for sure
I'm hard on dontae but he did have 1 good play Sunday. Turned his head & almost picked. But he had several bad plays....not a good ratio

Yeah he essentially gave up 2 tds in the final minutes. (A pass interference at the 1 yard line and a td).

But he did knock down a pass

You know this is the NFL, right? They cart people from multiple fields every weekend, including the Monday night game last night. The blue tents are always heavily used. I can guarantee you that every player that sees significant action is hurting somewhere, from week 1 until the end of the season. These are the modern day gladiators, plain and simple. The 49ers have had more than their share the last few years, I'll give you that. And last year there were significant injuries to front line starters. I can understand the PTSD that some fans have. But they also need to realize that every team will lose scores of players throughout the year. The hope is that it isn't at the most key positions.

So stop the negative Nancy, glass half empty crap (not directed at you random). The team has done the best they can to insulate themselves from the season derailing injuries, particulately at QB. Next man up is more than a cliche. It is a fact of life in the NFL.
Just watched the condensed version of PHI and ATL.

Hurts reminds me of Lance. Not blazing speed but elusive in the pocket. Can run. Strong arm.

Not a whole lot of RPO in the first half. Looked like more in the second half.

PHI WR are fast! So is Sanders.

Atlanta was terrible in the red zone.

It was a much closer game in the first half. PHI pulled away in the 4th.

ATL DL got penetration but couldn't contain.

ATL ran the ball on them pretty well. Ryan wasn't that sharp with throws and was under pressure quite a bit.

Offense will need to keep last week's momentum up.

Pass rush will be key for the defense since the back end is shaken up.

Ryan's won't let off the gas this week and the defense holds PHI to 16 points.

Jimmy doesn't quite get 300 yds again, but has 2 TD's and 1 INT.

Aiyuk gets more targets at WR.

Sermon breaks 2 runs over 30 yds but Mitchell gets the most touches.

Trey gets 5 snaps this week.

You do realize that some teams have way more injuries than other teams and way more significant injuries to great players. That is the point. Every team does not have those type of injuries and that's a fact.

The niners qualify for this year in and year out. MANY other teams do not

I'm glad we got a quarterback this way our season won't go to waste if or when Jimmy goes down to injury or to being benched. However, going deep in the playoffs is now up in the air when it wasn't before these two major injuries.

We always underestimate the Eagles and lose. Need our best effort.

You mean our backups always underestimate the Eagles and lose. This year it's more of the same except we only are down our RB1, RB2, CB1, DT so I guess that's cause for celebration
