If Kinlaw can't go they need to get rid of the wide 9 or atleast move Bosa inside on obvious run plays. Kerr and Givens were horrible vs the run. And Street wasn't good in that department either. Hopefully Hurst will be able to help out in that regard when we face the Seahawks in week 4. Kerr and Givens need to get their act together by the time Hurst returns or one of them could find themselves as the odd man out. And Key has 4 weeks to prove something or he could be out when Willis returns. We are not going to keep 12 Dlinemen on the 53 and probally won't even keep 11. We had 11 originally because they knew they were putting Hurst on IR. So really it was only 10. Won't have to drop anybody for Jeff Wilson because he is just going to take Mostert's spot.

Donte Whitner gave an interesting take on why he thought our run defense was so bad in the game. He said it "lazy eyes" or something like that. Essentially the linebackers and the nickel were playing it wrong and rushing into the Dline, which helped the Lions create more gaps. He said it's an easy fix.
I don't know if he is right or not but he did play the game at a high level and is a smart guy, so I'll take his word for it. Hopefully we see an improvement next week.
I'm concerned about us containing a mobile QB though.

You know we just los our top RB and top corner for the year right?
I personally wont let it get to me but there is plenty to not be too happy with regarding our strength going forward. Others are just flat out going to have to pick up the slack.
You know this is the NFL, right? They cart people from multiple fields every weekend, including the Monday night game last night. The blue tents are always heavily used. I can guarantee you that every player that sees significant action is hurting somewhere, from week 1 until the end of the season. These are the modern day gladiators, plain and simple. The 49ers have had more than their share the last few years, I'll give you that. And last year there were significant injuries to front line starters. I can understand the PTSD that some fans have. But they also need to realize that every team will lose scores of players throughout the year. The hope is that it isn't at the most key positions.
So stop the negative Nancy, glass half empty crap (not directed at you random). The team has done the best they can to insulate themselves from the season derailing injuries, particulately at QB. Next man up is more than a cliche. It is a fact of life in the NFL.
You do realize that some teams have way more injuries than other teams and way more significant injuries to great players. That is the point. Every team does not have those type of injuries and that's a fact.
The niners qualify for this year in and year out. MANY other teams do not
I'm glad we got a quarterback this way our season won't go to waste if or when Jimmy goes down to injury or to being benched. However, going deep in the playoffs is now up in the air when it wasn't before these two major injuries.
