The idea of a Ward, Taart and say … Hufanga all laying together is intriguing. Either Taart or Huf (or both) in the box at times. Huf is an effective blitzer there too. That would be a good grouping against screens, jet sweeps, etc. it will be interesting to see what Ryans comes up with.

We can't move Ward back to corner he was very very bad on the outside . At least he can play slot pretty well but he does that anyway from time to time. Cupp is his b***h

Looking ahead to Week 3, the Packers just placed Za'Darius Smith on IR with a back (o'rly?) and I think they are still without David Bakhtiari, and the Saints have it bad with COVID and injuries. (We don't play them in the regular season).
Hufanga may play a lot on sunday
49ers 31, Eagles 26
Of course I'm just like you I want a 49ers win. As important, I'd like to see an injury free this game.

Packers game could get ugly for Green Bay week 3. If they can't stop the run or get pressure on Jimmy it's a big issue.

FINALLY we play a team with injuries to 2 key players. Then again we don't have 3 key players, possibly more if Moseley isn't back or more players get injured this week. But, I'll take it.

Bakhtiari is out for the first 6 games confirmed.

Is it weird I'm more concerned about the Eagles game than the Packers game?
Seeing how the Eagles and Packers played week 1 and factoring in the Packers recent injuries, I don't think it's wierd at all. That being said week 1 always has some wild s**t go down so it's hard to put too much stock into week 1 games.

Week 2 is also when coaching staffs can get there hands on pertinent film and really game plan which I think heavily favors Shanahan and Co. although I don't really know much about Sirianni or their OC/DC, maybe they're the real deal

Edit: meant to quote the above post.

Good points here Keg.

I just googled their coaching staff, their Defensive Coordinator is a first time DC so I definitely like Shanahan to outcoach him there. Not too familiar with Sirianni though, always seemed like McVay ran that offense. We shall see though.

Would be stoked to be 2-0 after both weeks on the road and a big time home opener upcoming. Can't wait for Sunday

We have a good team - we should be confident going into these games.

As for STs, we need some production. Good punt coverage would be nice, same on K.O. But it is time to see a WISH worm burner , aka "grubber" (remember the one that hit Kittle in the face guard?), and some wobbler punts would be appreciated also. Those come down like a duck with one wing in a hurricane. .
Not laughing at ya. Just hoping for anything special in the STs is beyond a joke. When was the last time this team did anything out of the ordinary? And I don't mean Gould's record or punts being downed on the 1 yard or fumbled. Even when their year was lost they did nothing. But I sure hope you are right.

Hard to be confident when we're going into the game with at least 4 starters out but I do think this team is still good enough to overcome the injuries.

I do think our offense will have to shoulder the brunt of the responsibility for a bit until the secondary finds their groove which I think can happen as Thomas and Lenoir grow into their roles(similar to Seattle in 2011)

Eagles DL is no joke but I think our OL and our scheme and players are up for the challenge. We certainly have no issues going to the quick game or mixing things up on the ground so their pass rush can't attack. Jimmy has to be on point with his decisions and we may see more Lance in this game.

I'm thinking 31-27 49ers W.
