I'm not surprised at some of the reaction here because we're all emotional about our team. But as usual, there are several people that need to relax and understand the role that luck plays in football. The Lions recovered both fumbles on Sunday AND an onside kick. If even one of those PURELY LUCKY things doesn't happen, we win EASILY. The niners average gain per play was 8 yards (even though we were sitting on the ball late which drives the average down). The Lions were throwing like crazy in the 4th against our prevent defense that was handing out yardage in exchange for time running off the clock, yet Detroit still only averaged 5.1 yards per play for the game.
If the Niners had even reasonable fortune, this is a laugher and everyone's confidence would be sky high. The only real concern here is the Verrett injury. That is legitimately a problem going forward. The early run defense was scary, but it tightened up nicely in the 2nd half. The Niners outclassed the Lions, and very good fortune for Detroit was the only thing that made this look at all competitive. We have a very talented team still and unless we have a lot more of the awful luck we've had with injuries and how the ball bounces, the Niners are a team that nobody wants to see in the playoffs.

Thanks for the meaningless post. Here is another one.

Yup 100% agree some people seems to not even know how football is played. Its like chess you do what is statistically in your favor.

Making the playoffs is easier than winning the division. I think it's likely that at least two teams from our division go to the playoffs, with a small but still viable chance that all four teams make the playoffs.
If I'm thinking of power rankings right now,
1) TB
2) KC
3a) SEA
3b) LAR
3c) SF
3d) ARI
7) PIT
8) LAC
9) DAL
10) GB

I think we win by 10. I like how Deebo played. He's gonna get yards in this one. I liked our blocking in the run game for the most part, and Jimmy looked like 2019 Jimmy getting the ball out with confidence. We will score at least 27 points.
I also think the pass rush will set the tone in that Bosa, Ford, all eat.

I'm more pissed about the JV injury than a couple of fluke bounces that went Detroit's way.

I'm out here in Jersey (Eagle Country) had mom over, she had the Eagles game on TV while I was streaming the Niners game on my iPad. The Eagles started off a little slow but really started playing well. Hurts was very accurate and played a great game. My opinion is this game is going to be a problem. I want to win this game as much as I do the Seattle games. Before the season I had the Niners winning their first 2 games easily but I have some concerns now. Hopefully the run D plays really well and the secondary steps up. Or O looked as good as I've seen under Shannahan. We're gonna score our points, hope they can get a few stops against philly. Not saying we're gonna lose, I'm not confident about it that much either. Hope I'm wrong and they humiliate them.
