Read somewhere he was a ST gunner and kick returner. Makes since from that standpoint.

Maybe he will take the same career path as Mostert?

IR Hall of Fame?

I hope this addition was mainly for kick returns and as a passing down back

It would be great to see Cannon contribute on kick returns and be able to make an impact there. He's got some good speed. And yes, being able to make some plays as a RB, maybe in open space catching the ball, would be nice.

He has a history of pretty good kick off returns so I am almost positive he will be used there. I don't know if he can return punts but I do know he's got a tremendous average in yards per catch as a running back

Good to hear. This team could really use a boost in kickoff returns...and punt returns, for that matter. When was the last punt return TD this team has had? Was it way back in the Ted Ginn days?

I think James Jr had one against the Seahawks a few years back but Ginn Jr was really the last good returner we had. 10 years????? Come on Shanahan get with it already. Special teams is a factor in plenty of games. Get a damn returner already

Yeah, James had that kickoff return TD vs. the Seahawks a few years ago...as for punt returns, I looked it up and it was Ginn who had the last TD 10 years ago. Way too long! In a tough league to get wins where the margin for error is pretty thin many times, having a much better return game would be huge. Be good in all three phases!

You're right that was a kick off return. Across the league everyone keeps talking about all three phases, when you're playing a great team that could easily be the difference in flipping the field and winning the game. I still don't see why Shanahan has not addressed this issue. Draft a return specialist that could also play as a number three receiver from time to time. It's not that hard. Do it already!
Finally a decent return man! Thank goodness we won't see Ambry returning kicks today
He seems to have some similarities to Raheem Mostert running style, we need a spark, BADLY.

I was calling for the same thing. We needed speed at rb tonight
His return was probably my most exciting memory of last night. But man I wish he would have just tried running over that old man kicker instead of allowing him to lead him out of bounds.

Yeah , just truck the kicker. Don't run out of bounds because of a kicker. Maybe the kicker gets rattled and won't make a 50 yard field goal later in the game.
Cannon gave the team a nice spark. Seemed like a very well blocked kickoff return. Cannon had a huge lane.
He had a nice stop on a punt or KO too
A nice return AND a very nice ST's tackle
