I thought Demeco's game plan was spot on. Instead of playing zone to prevent Hurts from scrambling, he manned up and blitzed the s**t out of them. The 49er CBs were physical all through the WRs route stem to help negate their speed. I thought of PHI as "ARI-lite" but I don't think you can blitz Kyler Murray (and his WRs) the way they blitzed Hurts. We'll see.

My all22 couldn't be downloaded and I lost access to it.

That's why they went and got Hopkins. Plus Kyler is a better player. It was a great game plan. It burned us on that last scramble from hurts that gave them that late TD.

The BS roughing penalty helped, too.

One thing I've noticed over the past few years and our struggles RE mobile QB's, some of it stems from our LEO scheme. I'm hoping to cover this at some point during the season.

I'd like to do a deeper dive into the defense and DeMecos game plan as well as covering a lot if the 2nd 90+ yard drive. Hoping for Thurs and fri

Seems like our DE's always crashes down no matter what. I swore I remember Saleh saying that they teach them to do that. AA made a good play on that 4th and goal p Philly tried. he didn't crash inside too hard and was able to pivot back to the outside not allowing the guy to run in for a easy td.

That was a notable difference from a couple of plays earlier and last week. The idea of "all gas, no brakes" sounds good but it is vulnerable to PA reverses/roll outs. Armstead has been steady other than those 2 or 3 plays where he crashed inside too hard. This upcoming game should be a good test.

Exactly. RW and Kyler will test this big time. Hurts was the warm up.

Super interesting take. Very curious to see how we'll adjust with ARI.

I foresee a similar gameplan that we used in 2020. We won the 2nd game and the 1st game Kyler was only able to really get going in the 4th quarter after there was a botched call in a hurry up. One side of the field thought it was man-coverage the other thought zone and so DeAndre was left uncovered running across the field.

No Verrett to shut down Hopkins this year though.
Thanks for these as always JD. How did you feel Mitchell did in terms of finding the open lanes and hitting the cutback lanes? I think one of the podcasts with Barrows he said he remembers atleast 3 times he missed wide open cut back lanes. It did seem like Hasty had more success in there. Thought? Anything stick out?
Great thread!

I don't remember anything specific. I did gloss over a few runs though, they were getting lather rinse repeat with all the 2-3 yard runs.
Great breakdowns
yeah good analysis on Jimmy G in this video. appreciated how you broke down his inexcusable misses. Seemed like he had plenty of time and didn't need to rush mechanics or anything like that.

Awesome that Deebo screwed up on the big play. What you see isn't always what was supposed to be lol.

Usually that kind of mistake turns into the QB getting blamed for a bad outcome. Props to those dudes for pulling that play off on the fly.
Thanks Jonny!

It was a hard fought game. The run defense, for the most part, was much improved over week 1.

Fred Warner was the MVP of the defense, he was all over the field and flashed on a ton of plays. He's showing he might be the premiere LB in the NFL.

Jimmy G struggled early, same with the entire offense, I have a clip of the botched screen to Juice on my twitter, I'll post tomorrow since it's really late in my time zone.

Hard fought, ice bag game. Some real nice throws from Jimmy after the cold start and Deebo keeps looking like a monster. Anquan Boldin 2.0

I liked it when you had the screen shots like with the vid here! This looks like half field split concept on each half... read FS to determine which half to work
