SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs SEATTLE SEAHAWKS - 2021 Game 4

Looks like the QB switch happened today. I expected Jimmy to carve up this defense, but he left too many points on the field. If he is going to play like that, I don't see any drop offs by playing the inexperienced Trey Lance.

Lance at his worst is better than Jimmy. Hopefully this is the last we have seen of him as a starter.

jimmy done as a 49er, only time you will see him again is if lance get hurt, otherwise his days are numbered

I don't think so, not yet. But some aspects of the offense, such as the running game, are better with Lance in there.
Trey sermon should get some love after this game he did very well

The 2 main problems I've seen through 4 games besides injuries
1) Inability to sustain intensity throughout the entire game
2) Lack of killer instinct on offense when getting a lead (see #1)

All gas & no brakes has become hit the pedal and then throw it into neutral and coast the rest of the way

Would you think that this is a lack of leadership and maturity?
Coaching ?
Or do you think that it is something else?

I would add not getting any turnovers since Greenlaw's Pick 6 in the first game.

Well, to be fair, Dre did get hurt on that play so maybe the other guys don't want to be injured.....oh, wait....
why would u put jimmy back in? Trade him for a 3rd round pick and call it a win.
This team lacks depth and is poorly coached.

Side note: several angry Jimmy Cultists stopped watching before Trey calmed his nerves and started to play better.

I personally was impressed with his elusiveness in the pocket. But while I think he can be functional because of his legs, and the threat he brings to both the run game and deep pass, he obviously isn't ready for the rhythm quick game, as everyone knew. And that's a huge deal in the NFL.

That said, after watching his clutch 4th down plays, I honestly don't think the net would be a drop for the offense. Our run game will be better, even if our rhythm passing game is worse. And then there's the coming off the bench factor. He may have played better without the rust.

Trey was lost and looked horrible. Scared and had no poise. He was panicking all the way to the end. It was really cringeworthy.

With that said. Jimmy's time with the 49ers is over. Let trey learn and he should start here on out.

Lol I love it. If you critique Trey, you're a "Jimmy Cultist"—even if you don't think Jimmy is the answer.
Shanahan owes his defense an apology: what was it, 5 three-and-outs pitched by the defense and the offense put up a doughnut! Very, very disappointing! The one play which the new RB threw back a high bobbled ball to Jimmy with Kittle temporarily open might have proved to be an ingenious scheme. But they shat the bed. Cannon's 'double-fumble' and Wilson's brilliant elusive move to fire a TD right afterwards was demoralizing!

Proud of this defense. They forced some fumbles and SEA had the fumble luck. Keep it up.

Let's just hope it lingers.

I hope he's ok, but I also don't see the point in keeping him as the starter.

really curious if this is true. Being out for getting your calf stepped on? I don't think I ever heard that one before. Meanwhile Carson Wentz is playing on both ankles sprained

This is the exact reason they drafted a rookie QB,JG can't stay on the field. Trey is not going to be Montana after 2 quarters of play like some on this board expect. Lance may be a great QB,an average QB,a journeyman backup, but he needs at least three years to gauge if he's "our guy". Most fans have high hopes at the beginning of each season but after the first 3 games and injuries that hit the team one can get a feel who the better teams are and at week 1-4 we feel like a 9-8 --- 10-7 team. We have a bunch of good players in place but we are still a few away from getting back to the SB. The defense is great sometimes then look average. JG is not going to be that QB that will put the offense on his back and light it up,that's also why they drafted a dual QB. I'm not against JG and it was clear he is the best option to win right now but I'm realistic and do not forsee the team making the playoffs, and if they do limp in,they will get roasted 1st round. So Lance will get more playing time this year, because JG will miss more games even after this calf issue.

Lots of games left to play and hopefully they can improve on both sides of the ball, and finish games out, but the only way this team makes it to the SB this year, IMHO, is if each good team they face like GB, KC,Rams,Cards,Sea,Ravens,Bills etc loose their qb1 or 2-3 key starters when they play them.

Many Seattle fans want to cut loose of RW and his cap # but Sea would be lucky to get to 500 without RW and he's the only reason they wax us consistently.

On the bright side I don't think we lost a player for the season for the first time in a game since Garcia was QB. (Feels like that long anyway)

One positive.....we aren't shaming on Dontae Johnson at last. He's probably happy about that.

Well he did miss that sack on Wilson that lead to a TD.

Ill take that miss any day over the reasons we usually are dogging him for.

Cannon needs to be cut. Dude doesn't know how to field a punt and fumbled TWICE without being touched on the same play. See ya !
