#49ers pass catchers had a drop rate of 16.7% yesterday (3 of 18 catchable passes), which tied with PIT for the highest of any team so far this week.

LOL oh okay.
My god people over reach on s**t they know nothing about.
You can say he needs to be held accountable for the penalties, that starts with the coach. But claiming he can't call plays is just stupid. Please tell me what you'd call if you're constantly in 1st in 20? Please provide us with all these great play calls that our "dumb" HC is missing out on....

THIS
Kyle hired Lynch, not the other way around. Kyle has way too much power with this organization. He's not good enough to have this much power.

People question the call on 4th down where Trey was stopped at the goal line. If they had passed and it went incomplete they would wonder why they didn't have Trey run it. The play at the goal line where they had Juice take the snap from under center was the one I would question. I would rather have seen him take a normal handoff so he could get a head of steam behind him. He had no momentum at all the way he ran in and took the snap directly from the center.

That call would have been perfect for a 4th and inches. Not 4th and a long 1.

OL not great in pass protection. Need to run the ball more if Lance is starting. Pound into submission. But really, need to have Kittle to do that. Mostert might get an extra 0.5ypc also. Have gotten unlucky on injuries.

For Shanahan's offense to be successful, the run game has to be firing on all cylinders. We have lost Mostert which is absolutely massive plus the O-line is not playing well, especially on the right side of the line with both Brunskill and McGlinchey.
We have to run the ball to open up the pass game. We can't do it the other way round with Jimmy because teams know he can't throw far, so they just bring down the safeties to hit the WRs on their crossing routes. While Lance can throw far, he is not ready as demonstrated in the Cards game, throwing high, seeing ghosts, he couldn't even see Mitchell right in front of him which should have been an easy TD.
In order to get things going again, the easiest way out is to kickstart the run game. The O-line needs to play much better or even play an extra lineman whatever the case may be. Mitchell is good enough to make plays. If Shanahan can't restart his run game, you will be seeing what you have been seeing, basically struggle like hell.

Injuries is what's wrong with the offense, so it takes a few games to work around those missing components. When Mostlyhurt was gone, we had to rely on two rookies for a huge part of our game. Even then, all of our losses were 100% winnable. No huge overhauls are needed. The defense looks great. One or two coverage busts per game is going to happen--the other guys get paid too. Having a gimpy QB doesn't help matters either. I like the philosophy of just shutting guys down who are injured to let them heal instead of having guys who are playing at 50% throughout the season.
There's nothing wrong with the play-calling. The team just has to readjust around some key, key injuries.
We're just one of those teams that will hit our stride later in the season. I predict we'll be the most dangerous wild card team in the history of the NFL. No team is ever going to go undefeated in the NFL ever again. There's just too much parity and guys are always getting injured. We just need to be healthy at the right time. I'd rather be healthy at the end of the season when it counts than to be like the Harbaugh teams--banged up during the playoffs.

I'll add to all the above,
- no short yardage offense, starting with no bruiser running back (although they have Jacques Patrick on the PS).
- unproductive selection at the top of the draft (Banks, Sermon, Thomas)

All of our running backs have been hurt and running the ball is our identity. Shanny builds off of the running game. Shanny can make any back look better but we are literally playing with rookies and practice squad players.

There's your XWR and deep threat for Lance going forward. He's got no GTD cash left and I'm sure SF would be more than happy to restructure/extend him so he has GTD cash and a lower cap hit.
You already know what Lynch is going to say, "He just wasn't a good fit" and "We're happy with our guys".
Meanwhile, It couldn't be more obvious we need:
- a #1 X WR and deep threat (Julio Jones, AJ Green, OBJ)
- a starting quality RB to replace Mostert (Marlon Mack anyone?)
- a bunch of corners who can actually play press (since Ryans likes to call it so much on 3rd down against superstar WR's and QB's) (Gilmore, Sherman etc).
- a mobile experienced backup that Trey Lance can imitate (Cam Newton anyone?)
The Rams and Cards wouldn't have hesitated to make the moves needed to grab these guys.
I appreciate them bringing in Josh Norman but they need about 2-3 more moves like that to win this division.

What are you gonna trade for him?? 2nd or 3rd round pick?? I mean I would, but I doubt the team does, especially with Lynch's conservative ass.

My thoughts on the struggling 49ers offense is how opposing defenses are approaching this team.
I first noticed it in 2019 in the first game vs the Seahawks. I think it's called the Bear front where there's 5 defenders covering all the gaps on the line of scrimmage. Now, every team will line up against the 49ers offense in this scheme. It greatly reduces the ability of our O-Linemen to get out in space and execute the zone blocking system.
When teams line up in this Bear front and the running game isn't established it impacts everything. Play action is no longer as effective, your constantly in 2nd/3rd and longs. With Trey Lance starting it seems Kyle has adjusted the offensive approach. Reminds me so much of what he did in 2012 with RG3 on the Redskins. Pistol formation, lots of read option runs with the QB.
Trey needs to be protected. He has an incredible skill set and his mobility is part of that, but if he gets hurt we'll be royally screwed for the future. His development is critical. Look at Josh Allen! He was below average his first year or two. The Bills were patient with him and quietly surrounded him with talent as he developed. Now he's easily top 3 in the league and the Bills will be a dominant team for the next decade. .
There will be a lot of growing pains for the 49ers as they continue to start with Trey Lance. If we give him time and support his potential is absolutely sky high.

I'm over reaching after watching him coach for 5+ years? It's on the coach. He's not that good NY. His record can atone to that. Shanny thanks he is smarter than every one else but keeps getting humbled, week in week out. Looking like Rudolph out there all red nosed and mad.
He wouldn't constantly be in first and 20 or first and 15 if he would just call normal plays and cut the cute crap all the time. He is confusing his own line, not the defense. He's predictable. Not gonna be not a winner, IMO.
