Assuming Jimmy Garoppolo is healthy after the bye, what should we do?

Interesting to see how many people are willing to throw away next year as well as this year. We aren't going to the playoffs with either QB this year. And if we go back to jimmy then we are essentially throwing away next year as well.

it's ridiculous to say this season is over. the team could easily be 4-1 right now.

100%. Season is far from over.

Bring on Indy next. If Garoppolo is completely healthy going into that game, start him. But only if completely healthy.

Lance's time will come. Based on some very encouraging things from his play yesterday, I'll be looking forward to when that time comes.
Why would you want to start Jimmy again? Let the kid learn

It's not like we are bringing back Jimmy at the end of the year

Jimmy who?

my QB is Lance.
It's unfortunate, but as long as we can sustain being competitive in games without breaking Lance, we need to move forward with Lance.

What the team's record could be doesn't actually matter. We're 2-3 and that's our record and we've earned it.

In 2019, we had 10 games where the win probability for either team was less than 60% going into the final 5 minutes of the game. Based on that, we easily could have gone 16-0 that year. We also could have gone 6-10. That team did not play like a 6-10 team nor did they play like a 16-0 team. They earned their 13-3 record, because closing out close games is a huge part of winning in this league.

This team has not finished in the close games and they've earned their 2-3 record. There is no reason to think that is going to change going forward.
If Jimmy is healthy for the Colts game, or the game after that, he should start. He can execute the offense better than Lance right now. That's pretty obvious.

But they should still sprinkle Lance in and this starting experience will only help. There needs to be some threat of passing when Lance comes in, so the offense isnt a glorified Wildcat.

If/when SF officially misses the playoffs, put Lance in.
We are good enough to stay in purgatory. You want out? Let Lance start. We won't get out this year. Next year......maybe

We should stop developing Trey to go back to arguably the worst QB in the league.

Even if you don't care about Big Time Throws, Jimmy leads the league in Turnover Worthy Play %.

What exactly is considered a "big time throw"? Based on the percentages, looks like Jimmy has zero and Trey has… two?
Just watched a presser, Kyle will start JG and once he's healthy continue to sprinkle Trey into the mix.

So that means about 3-5 more starts for JG until he gets hurt again and Trey will probably finish out the year, depending on if we are in the hunt for a wildcard, Trey's progress,JG's availability.

Start Jimmy if he's healthy. For optics sake, I don't want to see him lose his job due to injury. If the offense continues to struggle with Jimmy, then bench Jimmy at some point in the latter half of the season. I'd rather see the offense struggle with Lance than struggle with Jimmy.

This. I'm always wary of guys losing their jobs due to injury. But if the offense struggles, its going to be less difficult to switch to Lance now that he has starting experience.

A big time throw is essentially just a difficult throw into a tight window, typically down the field, that was thrown with good accuracy.

The more worrying thing is that Jimmy leads the league in turnover worthy play percentage despite having one of the lowest ADoTs in the league.

Like I said in the Trey thread, if Kyle continues to RG3 Trey runs up the middle...and won't call a majority of undercenter plays...... then yeah put Jimmy out there, because I don't want to see our HUGE investment hurt because of what ever Kyle's reasons are.

If Kyle lets Trey play undercenter.....and off playaction, attacks the middle and deep parts of the field? Then yes I prefer Trey to start over Jimmy.

Like it matters who starts. The problems run waaaay deeper than Qb.
The 49ers made their decision when they mortgaged the future for Lance. Start him now and he'll be more ready next year. What is the mentality? Have Jimmy G go down completely and then bring in Lance. I'm not a GM or football pundit but this is a no-brainer, put the kid in and see what we have.
