Here is what a Deforest Buckner led 49ers defense had as results before Warner was in the picture.

Points/Yards allowed by Team:
2016 - 32nd/32nd
2017 - 25th/24th
2018(rookie Fred Warner) - 28th/13th

We all know what happened in 2019 when Warner was in his 2nd season and we added Bosa and Ford to the edges.

And DT is definitely not more important than a linebacker who can cover as well as Warner is able to. Not in today's game. That's why the team made the move they did.

Wake me up when the 49ers defense is as dominant as when Buckner was here. Warner is still here and the defense is mediocre to middle of the pack. I don't care what stats you throw out that fits your narrative. When Jared Goff is slinging it all over the field, the defense has problems.

I guess logic isn't for you.

You're acting like Buckner was the main guy that held everything together and yet when he was here but key players like Warner(who you claimed you'd move before Buckner) or Bosa weren't the defense was bottom of the barrel.

He's getting paid on the level of Aaron Donald. Donald on bad Rams teams never had his defenses dip into bottom 5 of the league. The worst was in 2016 when the Rams offense was dead last in the NFL so the defense gave up more points and were 23rd in points allowed but 9th in yards allowed.

Buckner was a great player, great person and I wish he was still here but nobody is putting him at the top of his position or even top 2. People need to stop acting like the guy was the key to our defense. The team clearly saw otherwise as well.

We are better than both the Lions and the Eagles... the teams that beat us were either better or as good but we just got OUT COACHED..
