Neither but really folks. Sometimes nice guys finish last. I really like John. He's the one getting teary eyed in draft as calls made and dreams are made. Kyle has said, I drafted you. No need for emotions. John is one cool dude.
i get that. I do. But John is the glue to me. I wish he had full control of draft and FA. Including offense.
I really hope Kyle is here for years, John too, but I know it's hard to imagine but the loss of John maybe the greater downfall. He builds great executive teams. Listens and tries to grow. These are the guys that succeed in my business life. The guys that think their s**t doesn't stink don't last long term.
I think Kyle is brilliant. But he may need to come to earth and give up some responsibilities. Draft John, all of it and FA.,playcalling to what's his name? What does he do?
Just change up some duties. But John wins in my mind. It might have taken five years for all of us to see it's not all rolling the way it should starting with Kyle. We could be on our way to four of five losing seasons?
Why? That's some really bad s**t.

It's clear that Kyle was not - and still is not - ready to be a HC in the NFL. He ascended because playcallers were in high demand following the success of McVay with the Rams, but Kyle doesn't possess the same qualities that make McVay successful. Given we are in year 5 now, it looks like Kyle won't learn or change here.

In 5 years they have failed to
- Acquire a franchise QB
- Develop a franchise QB
- Build an effective secondary
- Develop CBs
- Build an effective OL
- Develop a pass rush (except for 2019)
- Draft effectively
- Produce more than 1 winning season
- Draft a starting WR other than Deebo after spending around 8 picks on WRs

Whichever one is responsible for coaching the secondary.

Again emotions. I like McVay,because he will run down the sideline over a great play. No matter who it is. And no, not talking a Saleh type but it just seems one is smarter in the room. One has an air tight connection to his players.
I wasn't sure about McVay early on but a few years later, he's f**king awesome.

I hear ya. But one constant even with D mistakes secondary and all and some injuries. If you arm wrestled about it the D and John have been pretty damn good. I'm losing that feeling with offense. It's just mediocre for such a coach that gets never ending praise as brilliant.
Maybe John is the brilliant one.

Emotions, being less egotistical, being more relatable, knowing how to find the right balance in your system while still being flexible enough to maximize your players' talent and the matchups in a given game. Belichick is the master at the latter on D.

McVay and Shanahan were both hired as HCs in the same offseason, genius.

This. We have a safeties coach, but not a cornerbacks or defensive backs coach. That means the blame falls on Ryans.
