Who gets fired first, Kyle or John?

Whomever the moron responsible for scouting and drafting the likes of Pettis, Hurd, Banks, Thomas, Foster, Joe Williams, Witherspoon, Sermon, McGlinchey, Wishnowsky, and Beathard should be shown the door. All drafted in top 4 rounds, none are Pro Bowlers, very few are even serviceable NFL players, and some are out of the league. This is the primary reason we suck. 11 picks in the top four rounds that have turned out to be steaming bags of s**t. Sure we hit on 5th rounders, swell. When you screw up the easy ones because you can't evaluate talent is how you get 4 out 5 losing seasons and no direction. I swear the WZ would made better picks......... Yeah, I said it.

And whether or not they will keep their jobs will be determined by how Trey looks.

It's really that simple. They trade their future for Trey, their future now hinges on him.

Dont bother. Niner fans dont listen to logic. They want Shanahan fired now with no clue who the replacement is, and everything that goes wrong is Jimmy's fault.
Upgrade the DC is #1 priority if shanalynch wants to stay. Bring in an experience guy -- "advisor" "special assistant" what ever -- to change defensive looks and coach up coverage ideas. Find tacklers and draft them.
After last weeks game they should be walked together if anyone is getting fired.

Problem is firing guys without a plan (see Harbaugh firing) isn't the answer.

This is Jed's plan. He's an Idiot

Serious question: What order is more advantageous, or ideal for a franchise...the GM selecting the Head Coach, or vice versa?

GM first. You don't want a yes man drafting idiots like we currently have because he can't say no to the HC.
We will be good "When we are healthy".

I wonder if this truly is the dynamic of their relationship. I do feel like tension will come to a boiling point sometime this season, and Jed will have to choose sides. Unless of course he's bold enough to fire both, which I highly doubt.

Hopefully John Lynch, I wouldn't even think about getting rid of Kyle best coach the 9ers had since Harbaugh.

Well...

That's easy when you look at the coaches in between them.

He's been awful. One playoff season in 5 years here is unacceptable.

We no longer have standards.

Why not work on Shanahan's weaknesses and take some of his power away?

I do think we need to bring in a better GM that can draft good players and bring in quality free agents, and also prevent us from giving away are best players and our 1st round draft picks.
