What is the top reasons for the bad season?

All the ridiculous posts about jimmy.

1) Trying to run it back with the same guys in 2019 that lost you the Superbowl in the first place

2) Relying on injury prone players and brittle running backs that will not last 17 game season. And if the running game stops working, then the offense stops working.

3) Lackluster free agent signings on defense. Samson Ebukam. No impact on game day. Trent Williams, Alex Mack, and Juice were good signings. Other than that, they need to stop shopping for bargain bin players. And go for some names that actually contributed in the league. Rams let Samson walk and we sign this guy and he does nothing. Verrett, a decent low risk signing, and yes, you can't predict injury. But they should have had a plan B. You can't go into a season with 1 good cornerback

4) Getting cute in the draft. Reaching for a need and drafting Javon Kinlaw after you gave away your best 3-tech DT Buckner. And his injured knees makes the entire fanbase question if it is now the right move, or if the GM really knows what hes doing. Trading up for players that Kyle falls in love with, when the GM should pull him aside and question his every move. Why is this player worth 3 or 4 picks on a trade up? What is your PLAN for these Pettis and Jalen Hurd type players?

5) Garoppolo. Yes, his play is mediocre at best. To win a Superbowl, you will need to have a brilliant GM that can put together a top 3 defense in the league and the best running game in the NFL just to have Garappolo succeed. The Niners are certainly capable of doing that, since they did it in 2019. But that kind of s**t will happen maybe once every 5 years or a decade if they're lucky. The hope now is that Trey will develop into a franchise QB, but we certainly can't predict the future. All of that is just built on hope and prayer.

All of this.

Then I wouldn't of minded a trade for CJ Henderson at cb or Gillmore....you know the DPOY just 2 years that got an INT in his FIRST GAME BACK THIS WEEK ago, who is HEALTHY despite the people crying he's old and expensive. Meanwhile our lack of cb depth cost us the GB IND ARIZ games imo. They may of not won easily but won those games all the same.

I also put this on the front office. Verrett is an injury waiting to happen. People forgot he MISSED the first 3 games last year as well. Any one of us wasn't ok with the cb situation so I don't see how our management neglected it. Cost us at least 3 wins so far

I didn't think Verrett would make 16 game. Really no chance of that happening and they had little to no back up plan. Draft a CB early at some point. I was really worried about what happen when Trent Williams is out. It worked for 1 Game. We will see as the season goes he will probably be out later this year.

QB play
QB Head games
You all forgot bad conditioning and training
It is not a bad season. It is a bad start to the season
Some very thotful posts here, and i hope kyle, JL, and paraag read them all.

I wish kyle hadn't changed Jimmy's style of QB play, essentially moving him from shotgun to under center…. But, that's where our ZBS comes in so….what to do?

The moneyball idea has just killed us, and that is where a good many of our bad talent acquisitions came from. (Trade, draft, FA , and re-signing). I wonder if that wasn't how we ended up trading DeFo, because we could get somebody else cheaper who had injury hx.

HC/OC…kyle is the HC but basically spends most time as OC. That is unfortunate in that D is 1/3 and STs are 1/3 of the total game. Bad D play calls or bad/inferior talent…that is all on the guy i wanted here since his stints in CLE, WASH, and ATL. Additionally, having him as the final say…as HC…bad idea, altho he had Jed over a barrel when nobody wanted to come here. I would like to see all talent acquisition done by equal votes, GM/HC/peters/ and Listen to input by scouts. He's a great OC, but changing JG from a shotgun QB to under Center, just set JG back, and he never recovered…until.. CHI.

Paraag…no idea what he does besides write up team friendly contracts, but if he is involved in talent acquisition that should STOP immediately. Leave football to the football guys. And that means drafts, FAs, trades, and re-signings.

QB…would love to see the Jimmy who first arrived here return to his style of QBing that he is comfortable with ..ie, shotgun (and spread).

Coaching in general…we are NOT getting the coaching required to have a championship team. As noted above, kyle is responsible for O, D , and STs. His time is basically spent on O, and has not overseen the D and ST to be as good as they can be. HCing error. Saleh had to be coached up from being a LB coach to DC. He learned on the job. Fine, but it would be nice to have a young guy who has experience in more than just LBing or whatever position the DC played. Demeco is fine, but he needs help at DB coaching, and last week kyle , Demeco, et al worked on the DBs being "Out of phase" and getting 4 red flags /game each of the last 4 games. (That was roughly equivalent to four 30-40 yd passes /game and 3 TDs /game (within the next few plays) we gave to the opponents on DPI…that is inexcusable). The extra coaching helped. But why wait til we saw it happen. 4 weeks in a row?

There is lots of blame to go around but i believe kyle was very shrewd to return jimmy to the style of football he is good at…ok, excellent at. We are not dead and out of it. We can still get into playoffs but we are going to need performances like last week in CHI. Allow JG to play shotgun, or at least 50/50. No more moneyball. Get and keep DBs coached up, er, IN PHASE. Work with the 1/3 of game kyle is ignoring…the ST. Have WISH punt the Wobbler, or KO with the grubber. Try an onsides keep and expect to recover it. Get a DB playcaller for Demeco. Let the talent acquisition be only football guys, and reverse the final 45 from kyle to kyle, john (and peters). Don't know how to say this but don't let kyle make the talent choices on his own. Make it a team or at least a two man chore. He does well with RBs and TEs. Not so much with QBs and WRs. Lastly get some talent at CB . That has yet to be done except at end of draft or moneyball guys or in some trades. Do it right.

Yep that is it. Kyle's inexperience as a head coach has made him very rigid in his style. IE his way or the highway. A more mature coach would be better an analysing a players strengths. No doubt Kyle is a savant in designing play calls but sometimes it is best to use the KISS method. Keep it simple stupid. Complex plays require ever component player to do their bit on time and in place. That does not work out a lot of the time especially before a good defense who has studied the other side well.

Not playing the players you felt in April were the best fit for the team(Sermon, Lenoir). Piss poor play calling for long periods of every game. Not letting Eddie D have his team back. This is just a little of the problems plaguing this team.

This is the best summary in the thread. I would add HC head games, or at least the inability to connect/communicate with some players in a productive way. Also, a brittle offensive system that requires hyper specific players to execute, which is compounded by poor drafting and FA acquisitions and a HC who is too arrogant to change his system to get the most out of the skills his players do possess.
Of course we can all point the finger towards the injury door but a huge part is this coaching staff and front office's horrendous drafting and FA moves that have really hurt us.
not sure wtf is wrong with this franchise to continue to ignore common sense and draft or sign players with a history of being hurt.
