The Niners should pay you for breaking them down this year. (Wait …already broken! )

Thanks
We know what Shanahan's system is capable of producing. We know that the talent on this team is capable of competing with playoff caliber teams. However, the results have come up short for a majority of the season. Is it too early to question whether Shanahan has lost the locker room? If he is losing the locker room, why?

Ya. Like the play at 3:15. Someone else broke down that play and that was an rpo and he should've handed it off, that shouldn't have been a pass

He also had another rpo play where he completely missed what the defense was doing it and he handed it off instead of passing it.
They tried to pass 30 times in a monsoon with a bunch of backups.

Should have run the ball 40 times and passed 10.

This was the most inexcusable thing about the game plan.

I think throwing the screen to Deebo was the correct RPO read there. Watch as Deebo motions out. Jimmy is seeing if a LB shifts out with Deebo (the LB hanging over Sanu). Once the ball is snapped and the playaction is taking place, Jimmy is reading that LB. When the LB does not follow Deebo, throw it to Deebo. Aiyuk and Sanu were out there to block the two DBs, Aiyuk just blew his block.

If that's hand off at thats at least 5 yards and then the RB gets to go one on one vs that Satefy in the open field.

So at 3:16 , we see that we have 3 OL vs their 2 DL on the right side. Pause it at 3:21, and you see the LT and LG pulling. Everybody would've been blocked, except the guy standing next to the number 10 yard mark. But he's already pretty far out of the play that the RB would've gotten at least 5 yards first and also having the chance to get a TD down if he makes that guy miss.

I mean I'm basically saying what the other guy said in the video that a77 posted, but I also see the same thing. He had a couple bad reads running those RPOs.
Jonny is always in command when it comes to the 49er breakdowns. So silky smooth in his delivery!

I don't know about the other RPO plays that he missed on, but I don't think this is one of them. The read is the playside LB, we can see Jimmy look at him when playfaking. The LB stayed in the box and did not follow Deebo's motion presnap or postsnap. After the fact, you explained how a handoff most likely would have had better a better result, and you're probably right, but this is using hindsight.

Wrong. The coach's job is to put players in position to make the plays. If they fail to execute, you can't blame the coach. The players should know how to do the basic functions of their job.

If Deebo drops a screen, how is that on coaching?
If Jimmy overthrows a wide open guy, how is that on coaching?
If Brunskill gets blown up at the snap, how is that on coaching?
If Mosely is in position to make an INT but drops it, how is that on coaching?
If Norman gets fooled by a run fake and leaves his guy wide open, how is that on coaching?

Pretty sure the head coach had a big part on choosing those guys to be on the field.

I agree a49erfan. The head coach manages his coaches and finalizes the gameplan. It's the coordinators that are in charge of implementing the gameplan. Position coaches teach technique. The 49ers lost their OC and OL coach to the Jets. Who is in charge of the coordinators? That's the head coach. Kyle chose to promote from within (McDaniel/Foerster). The 49ers offensive staff has seen turnover over the past 2 seasons. That's not nothing.

I'd argue that play could have been successful or unsuccessful either way. Had Aiyuk executed on his block, the screen works. To say the handoff would have been a success, you're also assuming that the guys pulling on the run side successfully execute their blocking assignments.

He puts in a lot of work but honestly, I don't need him to tell me a steaming pile stinks.
