The OL played their best game of the year, IMO. Did a great job in run and pass and it was great to see us pass when they played the run more aggressively and then run when they started playing more coverage.

Brandon Aiyuk also had his best game of the year IMO.
Why isn't this a 15 minute video discussing the dropped slant to Deebo?

Thanks for the video.

Thank You
Thanks Jonny!
Nice job covering the "team offensive" mindset. You highlighted some great examples of that. And I liked you covered the change in defense to keep everything in front of them to avoid P.I.'s, albeit to a fault at times. And edge setting.

I just don't like that strategy when you are blitzing. Can't blitz and play 10 yards off. that when you suppose to be sitting on routes and jumping them b/c the ball has to come out fast. One reason our db's never ever make plays on the ball.

Yeah, it's simple pitch-catch there so it defeats the purpose of the blitz. So there has to be a balance playing tight man too because veteran QB's just look for their beat man option at WR and just throw it up for the catch or P.I.

Nice video jd. On that Deebo 80 yard screen, Alex Mack was hauling ass, getting 20 yards downfield to block the safety. The new rule about not allowing player to block below the waist when outside the tackle box works both ways. While it forces CBs to stay on their feet instead of chopping an OLman in the open field, an OLman also can't take out a defensive back, which makes it harder to block in the open field. Props to Sanu on the play too.

Good to see a complete game from Aiyuk. When a WR is pumped up run blocking, you know his head is in the game. There was a play where Aiyuk was weakside running a stop9 route, Jimmy looked his way and threw a pass a bit too far outside, incomplete. The point is Jimmy looked towards Aiyuk when Aiyuk was not on the concept side. I think that goes a long way in getting a young WR to run his routes hard on every single snap - have him know that the ball can be coming his way.

On the near INT that Jimmy threw. It looked like Juan Jennings had a real hard time getting off the line. He was supposed to run a clearing route for Juice's crosser. Jennings did not get far enough upfield to occupy the safety and that allowed the safety to get his hands on the ball. I don't think Jennings should be running any sort of clearing route since vertical speed is not a strength of his. I looked back one play and saw Deebo take himself off the field. I have to think that if Kyle knew this beforehand, he never would have called a play that asks Jennings to run a vertical clearout. Jennings (bottom of screen) should be far enough upfield that Juice (#3 to the left) doesn't run into him. Also, a FB running an intermediate crosser from the slot? That's not something every offense asks their FB to do.

After the ridiculous amount of yards that they handed IND on defensive PI calls, I am okay with giving these CHI WRs a cushion and forcing their rookie QB to dink his way down the field. What was most upsetting was not rushing Fields with discipline rush lanes and allowing him to escape the pocket numerous times for big scrambles.

Not fully versed on this. I take it you only mean both sides can't go below the waist in that instance, right?

Yes. Neither defender or offensive blocker can go below the waist when outside the tackle box. While this can lead to a CB getting flattened by an OLman, it also means OLmen need to stay on their feet to block quicker DBs in open space, which is not easy, but Mack did it on the 80 yard Deebo screen.

This is a run play but the same rule applies on the screen plays.

the strategy worked well against Chicago and the no name wr corp but we got some heavy hitters coming up next. Can't afford to let Stafford just throw 10 yard passes down the field. but i see your point

i swear we teach these never have outside contain. To make it worse we in the wide 9 which should put them in a better position to see what's going on. But AA and Bosa just kept crashing inside for the most part. And they play Kyler and the Midget in Seattle twice a year. You would think they would be well trained on rushing these type of qb's.
