Is it better to play a rookie QB or sit him on the bench?

Remember when Mahomes sat as a rookie? Man I bet that told you a lot hunh?

He had a pro bowler starting in front of him who went to the playoffs.
Fully depends on the rookie and the coach/system. It's as simple as that.

We know a rookie qb can thrive in Shannys system, they just have to be good.

It's not as simple as that. To believe so shows a complete lack of knowledge of both the game and people in general.

Really? Just those 2 things? That's a lot simpler than I thought.

Depends on the team - if they are equipped to protect him, then I think he can start his first year.

If a player looks bad the fans turn on him. If you believe in a player you don't put them through that

I can assure you I have forgotten more football than you know.

And Trey is stuck behind a two time SB winner.

Not accurate, and very misleading. JG has played in 2 SB, and won only one - and that one, he was the backup QB who did barely anything on the field. So, the number of SB he has won as the starting QB is 0.

Yeah that was the point given he led with the misleading Alex was a pro bowler but left out that Alex was actually an alternate.

If sitting a rookie tells you a lot, consider how much better Mahomes is than Smith. So why not trade that "pro bowler" and get back some or all of the capital one just gave up to get PM since he must have tremendous value as PB'er and go with your young stud?

We have folks being disengenious in here for the sake of it, that's the truth.
As in most questions like this, there is no right answer. There are a thousand factors that go in to this decision. In the particular case of Trey Lance, it is ultimately good that he was not the starter right away imo.

Yeah, I agree with this. It depends on the situation and what the goal is. Are you playing for the season? For the future?
