List of the Players I would dump after the season

resign tom compton, dude's been absolute nails
That list was posted in November when the team was struggling. Some of those players like Gould and Mack have turned things around. Greenlaw is back off injury and playing well. Like Kinlaw. he's too young to give up on. I would wait to see if that procedure Mostert had was successful. When healthy he's an awesome weapon.

This is a loaded roster in 2022. Specially the DLine. I don't want to lose anybody on that DLine right now - that's currently healthy and contributing.

Arden Key has made himself a ton of money in the past few months. He may be too expensive for us.

We have to sign DJ Jones and maybe Tomlinson. With Deebo and Bosa extensions, I really doubt we'll be able to keep everyone.

I agree. But John Lynch is masterful at reaching out and finding the players that no other team wants and signing those players to one-year 'prove it to me" type of deals.

Look no further than Arden Key. A high draft pick that the Raiders dumped. Nobody wanted him. Lynch did. The 49ers designed a defensive scheme that focused on Arden's strengths. Result? The 49er defense is playing GREAT football and Arden Key has earned himself a nice payday. Will the 49ers be able to keep him? Probably not.

Tis OK. Look at the first paragraph for the solution to replacing Arden Key. My point is this: There is always another Arden Key that some team is going to dump. Lynch is going to find him. Do you know who was really good at this? Bill Walsh was. It's how he built the first 49er defensive line that won two championships. Walsh and John McVay also drafted well in the late rounds, picking up key contributors with late round picks.

Sound kind of familiar to you?

This is why you don't post "Players I Would Dump" lists midway through a season. Those "Players I Would Dump" have become key contributors to this playoff run.

Yeah, totally impressed with Foerster's coaching job here. Now I understand the reason for two offensive line coach assistants for Foerster - apparently one of them is the run game coordinator while McDaniels is more of a pass game/run game coordinator or overall OC in the best sense of the word, as compared to Kyle who *is* the OC but looks like he's delegated a ton of responsibility to McDaniels.

Back to Tom, he's much cheaper than McGlinchy, and *most importantly* he's been relatively healthy his entire career. McGlinchy will be comming off a severe knee injury that (by some reports) seemed to say is quite possibly career ending. So if he comes back in 2022 - I don't think he'll be better than Tom (given the year after rehab) usually it takes about two years to get to 100%. I think McGlinchy's 100% is already about the same as Tom Compton's.
Samson has definitely improved as the season has gone along, but that that 8.5 cap hit next year is tough to stomach
oh look a thread that didnt age too well by an emotional poster.

Beyond tough. Pay cut or goodbye should be the message

Mack has been about the same all season. He;s not terrible but age has just caught up with him. I think he has one more decent season left Gould has redeemed himself

Yea it's a little harsh but not necessarily incorrect. I'd keep Greenlaw and Mostert(for the right price). I'd keep Kinlaw. I think they owe JV another shot but Isure wouldn't be depending on him. The rest of them can kick rocks.

My s**t wasn't too bad. I'd keep Shaair and DJ

Looking at the cap situation, they should be able to keep Laken, DJ, K'Waun, & Arden, just need to backload the deals, as well as extend the likes of Deebo, Bosa, & Dre. But they won't/can't keep everyone, hopefully they can get Sherfield, Compton, Moore, Tartt back on 1yr minimum deals. They can also clear up cap room by extending Ward. As for Ebukam, what I'd do is get him to take a pay cut, with him being able to make it up through incentives, or a short term extension. I also wouldn't mind them extending Moseley.
STUPID LIST.

I don't see Mostert back TBH, gonna be 30 or so, wanted a pay raise in 2020, can't stay healthy, I'd let him go unless it's a vet minimum deal, doubt he takes it, same with Verrett, who I'd rather they let go.
Don't watch football then. Everyone can get hurt at anytime. Even the ageless Brady tore his acl at one point in his career.

I think JV will be back and I don't see anybody giving him more than the Vet minimum.
