One?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂. As long as we keep an incredibly rigid, inflexible offensive coordinator as head coach this will be the result. Watching Dak tonight and every other starting qb this weekend, we have a brain challenged, squirt gun armed qb holding the whole thing back🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

That's an interesting thought too. How many guys outside of Deebo seemed to really make big jumps after their rookie year? Many players seemed to regress. Ahkello, Pettis, Aiyuk, Trent Taylor, Solomon Thomas, even Mike McGlinchey.

Can't put Aiyuk in that category. He's a beast and has had a good year sharing time and catches with Deebo and Kittle. He's made key catches and has been a reliable performer. There was a lot made of his start to the season but I think that was mishandled and blown out of proportion.

Yeah this post was before he had clearly broken out of the slump. I'd take him off the list obviously now
The QB position is what kept us from winning another Superbowl, it's the same position that is going to stop us from making the playoffs or going one and done if we manage to squeek in.

We have been hampered by subpar QB play for over a decade now. We have wasted multiple years of championship level defenses with subpar QBs.

We passed on Tom Brady, we passed on Rogers. Those two decisions alone have likely cost another ring or two.

Without a elite level QB we will never win another SB.

Figure it out 49ers

Oh for crying out loud. It's silly to see that we "passed" on Brady when multiple teams passed on Brady 198 times. Heck, Michigan if memory serves couldn't quite figure out what to do with him completely in college as they had this fascination with Drew Henson.

Now if you're talking about passing on Brady after 2019 then I stand corrected. But to say that cost us another ring is questionable and iffy at best considering all the injuries we had last year. This year's defense with Josh Norman and Ambry Thomas at corner certainly isn't championship level. To their credit as a unit for the most part they've been pretty solid. That's largely because we have a strong front. But with two starting corners who resemble badly burnt toast, a leaky right side of the offensive line, and almost the weekly wondering of whether or not we'll be able to have a whole two healthy running backs active on game day, the people who believe Jimmy is the only thing holding us back, or a Rodgers or Brady would take us to the Super Bowl under those same conditions, well I'm not convinced of that. Nor should anyone else be that's paying attention.

Um, every other starting QB this weekend? So then, Baker Mayfield? Matthew Stafford who threw 3 picks?

I watched arguably still the best QB in the league lead an offense that put up 3 points in the second half Saturday against a Cleveland team missing several defensive starters. Now they won the game but if Jimmy and our boys put up 3 points in a half of football it would be catastrophic around here, win or lose.

Dak had a stretch not all that long ago where he played pretty horrible football two out of three weeks. Jimmy certainly has his issues and when he's bad he's bad. But to pretend like other QB's don't lose games for their team(s) is short sighted to say the least.
Excellent post! One point where I strongly disagree is on the Buckner trade. He simply wasn't worth the price tag the Colts ultimately paid, especially given that we wanted to retain Kittle, Warner, AA, and others at better values (plus Bosa, Deebo, etc on the horizon). So exchanging Buckner for a high 1st was a fantastic move in the abstract.

The trade only feels bad in hindsight because we've gotten 0 production from Kinlaw. Had we drafted CeeDee Lamb at 14 (probably next on our board), literally no one would be questioning this move (not to mention Justin Jefferson or AJ Terrell , or even Tristan Wirfs at 13).

I would argue that Taking Kinlaw hasn't simply been a bad result but was also bad process. He was raw with some injury red flags, but more importantly he was an interior DL, and the whole point of moving on from Buckner is that an IDL (besides the transcendent Aaron Donald) isn't worth that maximal investment. It's not like we're all pining for better DT play. The reasons we're at least a full tier behind the best teams are very simple: we're weak at QB and pathetic at CB.

In general, I think it's a mistake to think we can predict who will get injured and who won't. BUT someone with an injury history like Verrett is an outlier. You have to assume he won't be available and build your roster accordingly, then treat anything he gives you as found money. The way the FO approached the CB position this offseason was truly negligent imo.
