That clock causes so many problems that there must be therapy sessions dedicated to it.
lets get it started!
LOL Any thing on the zone is whole different kind of therapy.

So its not Quarterback?
It's QB. All great teams cover the other problems with a great QB. If the other big problems were addressed (high reliance on the injury prone, over-drafting, and moneyball) were removed, we'd still be a limited team- better, but still limited.

We suffer one disappointing loss and this forum is flooded with "our biggest problem" analysis and comments.

This thread was made almost two months ago back when many were complaining that we didn't draft/sign talent. Which I disagreed with. It's the acquisition and reliance on injured talent that has really hurt us.
Key injuries to Ford, JV, Mostert, Tartt, Moseley, Kinlaw, MM, and Kittle -- almost all of which have dealt with some kind of ailment over the past few years -- has really hurt us, and weren't prepared for any of those positional hits outside of at DT and RB
Of course, furthermore, we need a quarterback who protects the ball and can effectively attack all areas of the field, not just the middle. We also need closers in the secondary. As alluded to, we don't have that now due to injuries. Hopefully our draft picks pan out - they have played mostly as expected as rookies.

Lynch or whomever takes his place needs to stop drafting or signing players with known injury histories. We have to stop outsmarting the groups of other doctors that have flagged these guys, and we have to stop thinking we can turn them around because we actually make them worse.
I have to ask what you consider a known injury history? I say this because a lot of players have been injured in college or with another pro team and still manage to have good careers. Nick Bosa had an injury history coming out of college. So did Frank Gore.
Jimmy G had one injury in NE but has had 2 major ones with SF. Jimmy Ward had no injury history in college but spent his early seasons with SF on the IR.
I know Dee Ford has been hurt more than he's been on the field but he played the entire season the year prior to the Niners getting him. Once they did, he contributed well for the first part of the year. Then of course he got hurt.
So I ask again how do you decide who is too injured? How many games must they have missed before you pass on them. There doesn't seem to be a cut and dried answer.
I recall that during the Balke era the Niners reached for a couple of guys that were injured who never managed to get healthy. At that time the Niners were a good team and felt they could take a chance on players that they didn't need right away. I'm talking about 2013 when they took Tank Carradine with their 2nd rounder and Marcus Lattimore with a 4th rounder. At the time they looked like decent risks since thye were both very productive in college. They never became the players they thought they would be but the risk was worth it.

6 weeks ago, OTC wrote a thotful piece on our draft results, but I'd like to take a look at our "Talent" generally.
To OTC's talented draft pick keepers:
OL Jaylon Moore
CB "demo" Lenoir
S Hufanga
RB Elijah
WR Aiyuk
TE Woener
DE Nicky B.
WR Deebo
P Mitch WISH
LB Dre Greenlaw
LB Fred Warner
S/LB Marcell Harris
TE Kittle
DT DJ Jones… or 14 guys
i would like to add via draft, trade or FA:
CB K'Waun
DE Arden Key
DE Willis
DT Hurst
DT Street
DT Givens
LB Azeez
LG Laken Tomlinson
RB Jeff Wilson
TE Dwelley
WR Sherfield
WR Jauan Jennings
DE Ebukam…13 more or total 27 talented acquisitions.
And for unknown or "up in the air":
C Brendel
RB Mostert
RG Compton
RG Brunskil
DT Kinlaw
and big ???is jimmy G, depending how the QB slot works out. IF he stays on another yr, then we have a backup, JG or Trey . IF not then we need a QB 2 and he has to be a good one ..starter quality.
That may include the 6-7 guys immediately above giving us 33 or 34 talent acquisitions…this is a maybe group, however.
I see 27 solid players and another 6-7 maybes, depending on how things work out. So whether we have 33 or 27 solid players we are short either 12 or 18. And 3, most likely 4 of those are starter CBs, a starter DE, and an in-pipeline Center, with at least one OG. The remaining holes you can figure yourself. After 5 yrs that means we are either 33/45 ths or 27/45ths set as a team, CB, Edge and Center (pipeline) being our biggest holes.
Since i am including all acquisitions , draft, trade, or FA, the question is , "is that a good job being done by our F.O? "
One would hope the QB slot has been taken care of, we need some better OLs altho, Brun and Compton have kicked their play up a notch. Need to backup LB, and DBs, probably a RB or two and a couple backup WRs. Question, is, is that good enough?
I think so, and like all the talent above except for the 6-7 ??? Above. Right now it seems we are just the 3 CBs, Edge and in training Center away from being a top flite elite team. Of course all depends if QB situation works out..or not. If Trey, then probably 2 yrs to get to elite team. If not…well, got a lot of rethinking to do.

This is part of it, and a "you live by the sword, you die by the sword" type of thing amid a pandemic and all that comes with it as far as missed games and players.
The same thing that you are spot on about could end up being the thing that gives us enough talent to make a late run. We certainly had enough talent to beat the Titans. So we'll see.

Can't put Aiyuk in that category. He's a beast and has had a good year sharing time and catches with Deebo and Kittle. He's made key catches and has been a reliable performer. There was a lot made of his start to the season but I think that was mishandled and blown out of proportion.

And I'd argue that there are several disappointing losses. The Seattle game was pathetic and well within the grasp of the team and I look back at that Green Bay game as another that was totally thrown away. With luck they'll still get in but I agree with you - these losses add up to an underachieving team wasting good years. Who knows where we will be in just a few years. You can't squander any chances to win.
