He had a couple decent seasons here in Carolina, but nothing that would burn down the barn.
My expectations are fairly neutral on him, somewhere between a 5 - 6, 6.5. He's here so let's see what he can do.

Dude DWARFS our vertically-challenged WR's
A look at new 49ers practice squad WR Devin Funchess, No. 14. (He missed his first target in an SF uniform, though the throw seemed a tad off) pic.twitter.com/iCf0TaZYrg

Juan Jennings is roughly same size yes? Jennings is definitely slower than Funchess.

Big wideout I've been wanting. Hope he can stretch it and get a couple tosses down field per game.

They will get as much production as they got from Hurd.
Slow WR with one of the worst catch rates in the NFL who has been out of football for a year... will be cut in a week or two.

We don't throw deep. Why would we need a 4.3 WR?
Deeper ghost routes open up everything else underneath when that speed has to be respected.
But if we never actually throw to them defenses aren't going to buy it.

Redzone is where he can thrive - he can be a trusted receiver, he just got to be more consistent in his route running.

That's not true. We never threw deep to Randy Moss or Marquise Goodwin but defenders still.had to respect their speed to get deep. Goodwin was Jimmy's #1 receiver when he first got here even without ever throwing deep. But Kyle hasn't come close to replacing that skill set since he left.
