PREFERRED (POTENTIAL) WC ROUND OPPONENT

  1. Discuss

Current NFC playoff picture (as of 27 Dec): my ideal scenario:

    WC: knock out LA Rams
    DIV: knock out Dallas
    NFCCG: merk GB
SB56: revenge against KC, finally have Niners-Pats, or finally have Chris Berman's fave: Niners-Bills

I want to beat that cowboy a**! To shut all the media talking heads up.
I would rather take my chances defensively against Dak and the Cowboys offense. The other two opponents are against future HOFers at QB.

Don't really matchup with any of these teams. I guess Dallas has the worst defense of the 3.
beating the cowboys is always good for our soul
I think you could make the case for all three.

Packers- Probably the best team of the three right now but we played them extremely tight when we lost to them and we were not playing our best football.
Bucanners- Superbowl champs but their defense is not that great. They have the best QB of all time.
Cowboys- Really good WRs which could be a problem for our secondary but they are on the downward slope and the most inconsistent. Out of the four, I also think they are the worst team. Also Would be really nice to meet them in the playoff again.
Cardinals-. Beat us twice. Even though we didn't play our best football and those games were reasonably close l. I would rather avoid them over the other teams.

My order- 1 being the one I want to play the most
1. Cowboys- Mostly Just because I want to play them.
2. Packers- We Just Always give them problems. Even though we lost to them. I know we can beat them and I Love beating the Packers in the playoffs.
3. Buccaneers- Would be nice to knock out the GOAT but a the same time he is the GOAT for a reason.
4. Cardinals- Would love to get revenge but losing to Colt Mcoy makes me wary of playing them again.

Too early for this.
Way too early for this.

That being said, I have never been a fan of hoping you get X opponent. In the end, you will have to beat them all / the best anyway. So, play whoever, whenever. Doesn't much matter. Is going out on the first weekend any different than going out on the last weekend? Just gives you a worse draft position. You still aren't lifting the trophy.

It doesn't matter - we'll take on all comers.

This is really not true. What matchups teams get is extremely important in the playoffs. Certain teams are good matchups against certain teams and some teams are bad matchups. The matchups each team gets in the playoffs is an extremely important factor in who ends up winning it all.

Which is only concretely determined at game time. Who teams are today is not who they will be in over a month. Hence why hoping, on Nov. 28, you will face team X in Jan., is an exercise in futility.

The most crucial factor determining who wins it all is which team is peaking / gelling in Jan. Everything else is a distant second.
