Wrong. Montana is the GOAT

Dude, we're all 9ers fans (and some of us even saw Montana play ) but seriously, this isn't really a discussion anymore. It was close when it was 5 SBs to 4 because Joe was undefeated in those games, but now it's way beyond that.

I don't think so at all.

Look, maybe I'm a homer too and in some ways I am. Plus, I think Brady is a complete douche as a guy and human being.

But that said, and I know it's an easy out, different eras are different eras and tough if not almost impossible to compare.

But yeah, I tend to agree with most traditionalists. Even though through nutrition and science and so forth players are likely more athletic today, the game was purer and it was football in Montana's day. You could play defense and you wouldn't get flagged for sneezing in the quarterback's general direction.

Plus, Brady hasn't been all that in every Super Bowl either. I thought even though his statistics were better, he was outplayed by Nick Foles. The game against Kyle as OC in Atlanta, they got down 28-3 in part because he played like crap up until that point, even throwing a pick six to put his team down 21-0. Yeah he came back, and good for him. Soft defenses and league rules allow that to happen in the right set of circumstances and with the right quarterback. And yeah, he was the right quarterback. Not arguing that.

Plus, as far as Super Bowl wins, again it's a great accomplishment. But good luck, good nutrition, and league rules, among other things, allow Brady to keep going and going. Montana retired at 38 and essentially missed two and a half years to injury. Brady is still going at 44 and missed one year due to injury.

Maybe I'm more of a traditionalist and nostalgic for my childhood overall. Same yeah people say Lebron is the GOAT and I'll still say Jordan was.

No traditionalist thinks Montana is better than Brady. That ship sailed years ago. Brady is the GOAT.

Last 1:45 of the Superbowl, you're down 5, ball on your own 16:

Who's your QB?

Montana
Or
Brady

Has nothing to do with GOAT. Has everything to do with who you would count on the most from a single player.

And to keep on the thread topic, I voted for GB because it give us a better chance at a home game. But like some others said, just let it play out and let destiny take its course. Hate saying oh we want this team because in the playoffs, it's an even playing field every game.

Niner fans would say Montana. Majority of NFL fans and pundits would take Brady. As much as I hate to say it, Brady is the GOAT.

They both were as good as it gets in the clutch. Montana was more accurate and could move better. Brady is more durable with a stronger arm and inhuman longevity.

It also helps the Brady plays in an era where sneezing on the QB is a 15 yard penalty while Montana was getting clobbered

I think you could make the case for all three.

Packers- Probably the best team of the three right now but we played them extremely tight when we lost to them and we were not playing our best football.
Bucanners- Superbowl champs but their defense is not that great. They have the best QB of all time.
Cowboys- Really good WRs which could be a problem for our secondary but they are on the downward slope and the most inconsistent. Out of the four, I also think they are the worst team. Also Would be really nice to meet them in the playoff again.
Cardinals-. Beat us twice. Even though we didn't play our best football and those games were reasonably close l. I would rather avoid them over the other teams.

My order- 1 being the one I want to play the most
1. Cowboys- Mostly Just because I want to play them.
2. Packers- We Just Always give them problems. Even though we lost to them. I know we can beat them and I Love beating the Packers in the playoffs.
3. Buccaneers- Would be nice to knock out the GOAT but a the same time he is the GOAT for a reason.
4. Cardinals- Would love to get revenge but losing to Colt Mcoy makes me wary of playing them again.

Hard to beat a team three times a year.

We'd have the upper hand in that regard, assuming we don't mentally psyched out by them (like we do with Seattle).

I'm not scared of the Cards in a rematch.
AZ or GB preferably AZ

Best career for sure. You can't punish him for lasting so long even if the game allowed him to be. Him playing at a high level at his current age is undeniable.

But the talent level is very fair statement. Nobody was putting Brady over Montana or even Peyton Manning until he won his 5th Super Bowl. How many years does one need to make an assessment of a QB's play?

Montana was IMO a better QB in his prime than Brady in his. It's just that Brady's prime was about 1000 times as long.
All 4 have receivers that would destroy our CBs. Green Bay would be the best because the receiver depth after Adams isn't as good as the others.
We don't have a good enough team to go up to Green Bay and beat Golden Boy Rogers and/or the refs.

We don't have a good enough team to go into Tampa and beat Golden Boy Brady and/or the refs.

We don't match up well enough with the Cardinals to go down to AZ and beat them. Yeah I know we beat the Rams, whom the cards just s**t the bed against. That's not an equivalent.

My choice would be the Cowboys because at least going in, it would feel like a good match up, and we'd have a chance. Therefore it would be a fun game to get psyched up for.

That's what this message board was saying when Kaepernick went to Lambeu. He embarrassed them. GB celebrated the win against this team like it was a playoff game. They obviously fear this team.

The Lambeau mystique died when the Giants merked them in 2007 NFCCG…

…Jimmy G can win in the cold, he's from Illinois.
