ESPN late last nite reported E.coast NBA team (76ers??) had to cancel 2 games due to players with covid. In NHL, another E.coast team cancelled 3 games due to 6 guys positive for covid. And then CLEVE reported 6 players + one coach + Baker Mayfield all positive for covid. There was no immediate comment on what they are going to do with CLEVE game…cancel, reschedule, or ….??
i just hope the football gods leave us alone and let the NFL and esp the 9ers just play football. Whatever, i pray/hope that kyle has set stringent socializing rules and basically taken our guys out of circulation with others. Also will be interesting to see what the commish and owners say about a team like CLEVE where one coach, the QB and 6 others tested positive. If that happens elsewhere, then NFL may have to step in, but WTH do they do with 4 games left in season?
Injuries have just killed us the last handful of yrs. But add an unhealthy dose of covid and….well…what does the NFL do? This krapt is getting way beyond tolerable. Fortunately, as virtually all the NFL is VAXed, nobody is going likely to die , nor even get all that sick. And as soon as your covid test returns to normal, you can go back to the field. But still, right before Christmas? I'm saying the beads and praying covid just leaves us alone. The CLEVE deal is a mess…so we know it is around.

A league-wide, late-season, 2-week BYE for all teams (meaning late Jan playoffs, mid-Feb Super Bowl) is what an injury-prone team like SF needs methinks…
…if it's imposed right after the Falcons game, that'd be great (eliminates the short week turnaround for TNF against the Titans)

It's not just the NFL. It's the entire country this time of year. There was a COVID surge last winter/holiday season, too, which was actually the peak of the entire pandemic.
And it's not even because "people are stupid" or anything like that. It's a seasonal thing. People are indoors more.

Too true. I guess if kyle has our guys turn into a bunch of monks, we do okay. But with the holidays coming up, people indoors more, more socializing…
one thing about last yr was, that thruout the yrs end, Tampa Bay stayed way less hurt by covid than other teams. Not surprising, they had one of the least affected rosters. IDK if they were the best team or not…but they sure as heck were the healthiest.
Bruce Arians did something to keep them locked up and semi- isolated as they went into holiday season, and were without doubt the one healthiest team in NFL. Whatever that was, i hope kyle does likewise. Our guys gotta sign on for it, but somehow, i think this season they would buy into that.
At this time of yr, good HEALTH makes all the difference. We just have to stay healthy. No idea what kyle has cooked up, but i bet anything he has some kind of isolation…or semi isolation plan in mind. It will be the difference of winning the SB vs not even going…good health, that is.

Just more potential adversity. Wonder who would coach the squad if KS in out on short notice.

The key would be offensive play-calling. So probably Mike McDaniel.

Semi local, central coastal Calif. But even here we are spiking in a number of small towns. It seems that people in general have let down their guards and are going into small businesses as well as large, sans mask. And lots more socializing. Some places, eg, grocery stores, pharmacies, are no admittance without mask. But others…just don't adhere to that.

Mike McDaniel would call plays, but it'd probably be Jon Embree handling the HC duties.

#49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (concussion, knee) will not practice today. Neither will TE George Kittle (knee soreness).

No surprise I guess. Kittle was looking
pretty gimpy at times near the end of the game.
