Sorry it's so late in the evening to post this. Wanted to get it out in enough time before the Titans game and was busy all day today. Didn't get home until 5 PM my time.

I subscribed to your channel, jonny. Thank you for the content. I look forward to it every week.

I have said it once and I will say it again. I will take Jimmy's one elite physical skill over all other QB physical skills. His elite release is the best in the league, imo. I have never seen anyone fit the ball into windows as tight as the one's he throws into over the middle of the field. He has been doing it all season. He only gets into trouble when his head isn't fully in the game.

With Deebo and Aiyuk running slants over the middle and the threat of the run on those rpo's, it looks almost unstoppable. If the defense can keep it up, the 49er's are looking at a deep playoff run.

Those RPO's to the YAC bros are so nasty.
always look forward to your vids JD! Awesome breakdowns.

Couple of thoughts or questions for you:
  • Is it just me or does JWJ open up the running game more for KS? Just seems like I've seen more power run concepts as well as the zone stuff when he's in. Gives the defense even more looks and helps keep them guessing.
  • JG has been throwing with anticipation well. Throwing guys open, and before they're out of their breaks. Do u see the same trend? Is this just great KS scheming or is JG actually progressing in the system, maybe just trusting the new guys(JJ and BA) more?
  • What comes to mind immediately is the Cincy game, 2nd and Goal, Aiyuk wasn't able to catch it and get 2 feet in. IMO, the throw was late. vs the TD to Jennings in the Falcons game. One throw was well after the break, one was right at the break. This is more of what I want from Jimmy.
  • I really like the DL group of, Bosa, AA, Key/DJ, Ebukam.
  • Ward and Tartt are severely underappreciated. I know Tartt has injury concerns, but our defense is so much better with both of those guys on the field. I feel like they are both really smart and communicate well.
  • Ambry Thomas will be good. Yes he's getting some hate because of those point of attack toss ups, but he's been in really good position. I know ppl will dwell on the 3? "bad" plays, but he consistently had good coverage the rest of the game. He just needs to get stronger.

Lots of good stuff/questions - I'll respond in order

- What you're more seeing is someone who's been in the system for a while. We actually ran a higher percentage of power concepts when Trey Sermon was starting, probably to give more defined running targets. But, KS has always incorporated power-man concepts in - it's pretty much based off the fronts we see. If we're seeing the guards get covered up more, we tend to run more power.

- The throwing with anticipation has always been there with JG it just gets buried in other stuff. I saw him doing it in his limited work in 18, in 19 and a number of times in 2020 and earlier this season. When we don't see it is usually when we have receivers in and out of the lineup. A lot of our throws are landmark throws. So, he's supposed to throw to a spot and knowing exactly when different receivers will make their landmarks becomes difficult when the guys are constantly moving through. I feel like Kyle, I don't see THAT much of a difference in Jimmy from late 2019 or week 1. The only exceptions would be the Colts game and some of the 2nd Seahawks game. Other than that, you're seeing the team play better. Is he playing a little better? Sure. but you're seeing the OL play better, Aiyuk has stepped up and the difference having at least Wilson or Mitchell in the game makes is huge. I was saying it for weeks and people kept, "oh you're just a Jimmy lover" but I said if Aiyuk started to ascend you'd see our offense take off and really get going. That's what we've seen. Since Aiyuk has ascended, so has our offense.

- the Aiyuk throw vs Cincy - it was different because we ran a run fake first and Jimmy throws it pretty much as soon as he can considering the run fake the opposite way. Aiyuk just needed to come down with it. That's what top receivers do - they make great sideline catches.

- the DL group has been rounding in to form because after Kinlaw went down for the year they knew they had to go to a more permanent solution for the season instead of just waiting for Kinlaw to come back - same with Ford. So, they made a plan and committed to it and you're seeing the dividends of guys growing and gelling into their defined roles now.

- Our safeties are so underappreciated. They're both really good tacklers and incredibly versatile. Ward is an excellent slot coverage guy and it gives Ryans a huge advantage. He can call any defense he wants with a swiss army knife like Ward on the field. There's no hesitation in running any form of man-coverage that involves Ward. He can cover like a slot corner(which makes sense considering that's what Baalke drafted him for) and can play in the box like a strong safety and has the athleticism to be free safety. Tartt has as good of closing speed as anyone in the league. He just looks different closing on a ball carrier than a lot of guys - especially because he's bigger than most DB's.

Thomas was very up and down but he wasn't shying away from things. The jury is definitely still out and has had some ugly plays but like usual it's not quite as bad as niner fans make it out to be. He's not Jonathan Allen bad.....
Great job jonnydel
Thanks Jonny.
Great work as usual JD, only thing wrong was including Owens in the discussion of Dynasty era!!!

Yeah, I have high hopes for Thomas - he's at least nice depth.
