Allen might not have had his best year but his numbers are so much better than Jacksons'. This shows why the Pro Bowl selection needs a different format. No excuse for these snubs. It is not like it is an unknown player up against a well-known player either. And all the teams have winning records.

Yeah, A lot of it is just one big popularity contest. The thing that surprises me most about this particular situation. Is both Allen and Stafford had a lot of buzz and hype around them coming into the season. Early in the year, they were being talked up and talked about often. So it wasn't like they came out of nowhere and surprised people with good seasons. For them to have that hype and name recognition in addition to putting way superior numbers to the other two. And them still not getting selected is really surprising to me. I wish they would just use a different system to select who gets into the Pro Bowl so this would stop happening.

What other method could they use that wouldn't involve voting. Whenever players, coaches , fans or writers vote the popularity thing is going to get involved. Everyone has there favorites and all voting on this type of thing is somewhat subjective. They can't just go by stats because they don't tell the whole story.

For example, Bosa isn't the sack leader but he's near the top. What his sack numbers don't tell is how much he affects each play with the pressure he applies. They don't show how much he gets held. The guys that he plays against know how much they need to hold him to protect their QB.

Its not about the actual game. It matters for legacy. All 5 49ers definitely deserved it, so the selection process has some form of accuracy. Juice doesn't qualify for All-Pro, and Deebo probably just misses out because of how many great WR there are this season, but Bosa, Trent, and Kittle should all be 1st or 2nd team All-Pro. Part of getting that cache to get peoples default votes is being consistently good year to year, which only deserving players accomplish.

My bigger problem is the way that the players get to drop out and then get replaced so often. It waters down the honor. Like 15+ total guys from the SB teams drop out automatically, plus like another 15+ from injuries. IMO
everyone who replaces someone as an alternate shouldn't get the credit as being a pro bowler. Just a fill in for the game.

that's what i meant as no one wants to play the PB anymore... it only matters to player if he has PB as a bonus.. but if they don't then it's equal to a nickleoden kids choice award
