SF 49ers vs Texans Pregame Thread - 2021 Week 17

Get on top of this team early and don't give them a glimmer of hope. The loss to Tenn. hurt but they are a good team capable of a deep run. Every game is just one game, let's GO NINERS!

HOU has the 3rd lowest blitz percentage (they don't blitz often). Going up against an inexperienced QB, I wonder if they change it up.

Im just glad we're not going up against the dolphins. That performance by book was embarrassing yesterday.

Our three or four headed rushing attack (depending on if Lance plays) should be able to run roughshod against the Texans 30th ranked rushing defense

Yesterday I watched the Chargers game and while Mills is definitely not to be taken lightly It was a lot closer than the score would have you believe. Mills is a big tall accurate passer but he had all day to throw against the Covid riddled charger Defense. He doesn't seem to have much mobility if any. I think our pass rush will be able to put him on his ass and keep him in check.

That was beyond embarrassing. Saints almost cost me my fantasy game too. Dolphins D nearly beat me. Won by 1.2 pts.

That performance speaks more to Book than to Miami. Any time you are rolling with QB3 or QB4 it gets seriously ugly. This is all the more reason we must keep Lance clean. If he's hurt again and if JG is hurt...

Jimmy has a history of coming up injured during or after poor performances. His old teammates in New England called him out for doing this same type of garbage.

Bright side is he is done in SF. Good riddance.

Link of such call outs?

So all y'all wanted Lance' !! Here ya go! A rookie unproven QB has to go the rest of the way! I always maintained Jimmy G has to play this season out. I was wondering why he was playing so s**tty … now I know

What? Before the injury, jimmy threw a bonehead int and missed a comically wide open TD. After the injury jimmy threw a bonehead int.

Before and After Injury still looked like Standard Jimmy out there.

Last week really deflated me. I thought this team had really turned it around.

I'm finding myself not even caring about this game because the bad team can show up anytime.

Maybe it's time to visit the silver lining thread.

Oddly, I'm there too.

Yeah before yesterday no one said "he didn't look right in the 2nd half ...". He did slippin' jimmy things so no one gave possible injury a thought

This is the truth. That first interception, in the endzone, was pre-injury. It was the type of throw that we've seen Jimmy Garoppolo make time and time again. Unfortunately. He's been doing this for years now. However, on the other hand, he has also come up with games where he plays perfect football. Every throw is on target. Every throw hits a wide open receiver. There are two sides to our QB. The good side and the bad side. As 49er fans we have all seen this. We have seen him win games. We have seen him lose games. Even the most fervent Garoppolo supporter would have to admit this, and you can put me in that "fervent" category.

I also know that Jimmy G. gives the 49ers the best opportunity to make noise in the playoffs. It is simply unfair to Trey Lance to give him the assignment of stepping behind the center and issuing the coaching command of "be brilliant." Lance does not give the 49ers the best shot of making noise in the playoffs or even making the playoffs. His inexperience will show. It happens with all rookies. It doesn't mean Trey Lance is a bad QB. It just means he's young.

I just finished watching the Texans chargers game. Mills A big strong guy with an accurate arm. But the Covid riddled Chargers defense put zero pressure on him. Things will be different on Sunday for him. Now with Trey we have a three headed running attack going against The 30th ranked run defense

I would imagine they'll just do what the Titans did and go max protect until one of their receivers gets open against our poor zone and 1on1 defense (Norman & Thomas).
