What will Jimmy's trade value be in the offseason?

Not sure how good this draft and free agency is going to be. It would be awesome to get a second. But a third and lower round picks would be good just to dump his salary.

... would you say the same w/Grappy?? is his stock UP after last game and if Lance were to take over from here on ?

I don't think so..

I would agree with that. I felt that before the season, if Jimmy played better than his 2019 season, we could maybe even get a 1st round pick for him. Before the Titans game and his injury, I felt very good we could get a 2nd for him. But then he had a very ugly game and got injured, so that's the last thing people are going to remember.

I'll say though that, to me, he overall has a good body of work and then has some ugly plays/games. Player evaluators know full well what Jimmy can and can't do. And overall, he's played well this season... and then... injuries and the Titans game.

To be honest though I think, it's not so much a question of his skill level... but his health. I think most people can agree he's not a top 10 QB, but he's an effective starter worthy of a mid-round pick. If I was a GM that had a good team but needed a QB to push us into playoff contention, I'd certainly trade for Jimmy... but only if he's healthy.

Well guess what? The precedent has already been set. Health is going to be a huge impact on his trade value. He cannot stay healthy at the most important position on the field. So now you have to have a very good backup as well. So now you have 25+ mil in the press box plus whatever you have to spend to compensate for his constant injury status. Not a place most teams want to be in when it comes to the QB position and allocation to the salary cap. Oh......and he is meh. Dont get me wrong if a team comes knocking and puts a 2nd rounder on the table I would be happy. I am just not delusional to think its a gimmie.

The only thing I can see is a team also asking us to eat about 5-6 mil of the contract. On the open market, he's still a QB that till at least get a 1 year 20 mil offer. So if a team wants him, there's no reason to wait for FA, hope he gets cut, and possibly get in a bidding war with other teams.

Why would we pay a penny when we can cut. They aren't going to give a dime up for any of his salary. Makes no sense when they can just walk.

LOL... ain't you used to Gore49er's convos ??

I, literally, have no clue on this one. If you put a gun to my head, I'd say, "Just pull the trigger...but first, I'll guess we just cut him so he can go wherever he wants."

Yeah what my thoughts are. Say what you will about the front office but they always seem to look out for the players. A 4th where Jimmy might not want to go or cut him and wish him the best of luck feels more 9ers regime.

A cut is much respect to Jimmy if they go that route.

It comes down to "buying" draft picks. Say a team offers a 3rd and a 4th byt wants us to pay down a bit of his salary. Is that worth 5M? We cut him we get nothing. And we do have to pay like 2M if we cut him iirc. Anyway that's why.

Exactly, getting nothing would be the worst outcome

Exactly. Pay a little of his contract to get better draft capital. I'd prefer they go this route.
Two firsts and two thirds. He's that good. Right??
I mean . . . Rams gave up more for Stafford. Jimmy is younger and better. Right? . . . Right??!

To be honest, if I'm the Saints, I'd probably just trade for him. Just look at the garbage that they're peddling out these days at QB. And they're wasting away their good defense. The QB draft class is also s**t. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick could be in the cards.
Let's hope the saints and broncos get in a bidding war

Definitely. They'll say they entertained offers but nothing materialized and in the end, they did Jimmy a solid and cut him early so he could become a free agent. That's a very 49er FO move.
When is he due money for 2022? When do we have to make a decision by?
