We could trade Jimmy for every single one of their cornerbacks, and the Saints would be worse off financially than they already are.

When you start comparing Jimmy to Winston, Mariota, Nick Foles, and Bridgewater… he's not going to be a better value than any of them with his current contract and the picks needed to acquire him.
Garoppolo is markedly better than any of those guys. His contract will be negotiated. As to trade value, you have to consider the draft slot it would take to replace him. In that case, though there is an occasional exception, you will not replace a healthy Garoppolo's production with a 4th or lower draft pick, IMO.
FTR, I hope Lance turns out to be worth the cost, and that JG can be traded to offset a portion of Lance's very high cost.
What I'm saying is in a nutshell I would want Jimmy over them but I don't think he's markedly better to warrant any trade plus the cap hit of 27m. There's no guarantee Jimmy would agree to restructure and even if he does agree to one you would have to commit multiple years to him instead of a one year rental that the other players I mentioned could do.
With Jimmy's latest injury and having Lance in the building we're no longer in a position of power because teams know there's a good chance we could be forced to cut him.
Winston had a 14-3 TD/INT ratio before his injury which is much better than Jimmy + cheap + no picks. He's also lead the league in passing yards (and ints) but there's still some raw talent there.
Foles actually won a Super Bowl, bigger arm, and would be very cheap + no picks.
Mariota has all the tools Jimmy has and more IMO and would be much cheaper + no picks.
As for the bolded, that's what I'm hoping for too. For the sake of the team I hope I'm wrong and we get something good for Jimmy. That would be awesome. There's no reason to root for anything else… I just don't see it happening sadly.
$27M will be the 11th highest salary next season, and probably 15th or lower after that. His next contract will be worth more than $27M per season. And we'll get at least a 2nd/conditional 1st for him. The JG haters on this board must not watch other teams because he's absolutely better than 15 other starting QB's, and when healthy is in the top 10-12.
I would love to make a bet with you on that trade compensation.
And again, you kinda proved my point. "Better than 15 other QBs" means he's at least 17th best in the NFL but making potentially 11th highest in salary and you have to trade for him and he's injured right now and injured often.
It makes me wonder if some of you watch the rest of the NFL when saying teams like the Saints and WFT would drastically improve obtaining Jimmy when Winston had a 14-3 TD/INT ratio and Heinicke has more total yards than Jimmy and more passing touchdowns. Their numbers are almost identical.
Would you like to bet if JG, Winston, or Heinicke make more in salary next season? I'll take JG and you take Winston and Heinike, since you like them so much. Lol.
Way to completely miss everything I said about believing Jimmy is the better player. Lol
No…. You said we would get a conditional first.
You backtracking now?
Not backtracking at all, I still think that will be the compensation. He doesn't have the weight of huge guaranteed money, so that will be attractive. And his game take a giant poop on guys like Winston and Heinicke. But you know that, so not sure why you keep bringing them up. And then Foles and Mariota? Lol give me a break, you can't be serious with these comparisons.
So… you're not backtracking but you won't bet me on the conditional first round pick trade compensation you're so confident about?
Oh you meant ACTUALLY bet? Sure what did you have in mind? And thank you for confirming that you don't think Winston, Heinicke, Foles, or Mariota are even close to as good as Jimmy.

The only team I would eliminate from the list would be New Orleans, based largely on cap room. NO is deep underwater for 2022. -$62M just to get level. They will have a major purge this off-season.
Wouldnt you personally eliminate terrible teams from the list also? This is just personal opinion, but if I was the GM of an awful team, I would never trade away draft assets to bring on a QB like Jimmy. The Lions, Panthers, Texans and Giants would be teams that I would take off the list for sure.
Then there are other teams that have a QB that Jimmy would not be a marked improvement over. Teams to me that would qualify in this category would be the Dolphins and the Colts. If the Dolphins make a decision to move on from Tua, I could see it. I just dont think they will as he had a recent stretch of really good football. I personally think the Colts is a laughable suggestion, as at best the two QBs are on the same level (I personally prefer Wentz).
So for me, that leaves Washington, Pittsburgh, Denver and Cleveland. Pittsburgh makes the most sense to me in terms of a good team that needs a respectable QB, but does Jimmy really fit the identity of that team? I'd say no, but maybe. Washington would be an interesting one, and makes sense to me. They have a pretty good defense, and might be a QB away from being a competitive team. Denver makes some sense, but even with Jimmy I think that team is at best the 3rd best team in the division, with what would be the 3rd or 4th best QB in the division. Cleveland also makes sense, strictly because I think Baker is buns. But I dont know that the Browns share that sentiment. I could easily see them giving him one last year.
So really out of that giant list, it comes down to a small handful of teams.

It depends on how they view the upcoming QB draft field. I recently read someone suggest there are no QBs they would take higher than the mid-late second round at best. If that is the case, I don't see any of the teams you listed that would expend that pick on a QB that would have little chance of being any better than what they have.
Of course, the other part of such a deal would be whether or not Jimmy would agree to go there. I don't see Lynch just dumping him to a trash team against Jimmy's will.
I could see the Dolphins becoming a player. I have never felt the often over-the-top adulation for Tua. He has had a few flashes but nothing consistent. Hence, the New England connection comes into play with Belichick counseling his former lieutenant to make JG his QB.

From my understanding, Jimmy no longer has an option of declining a trade to a destination he doesnt want to go to.
Tua is very inconsistent. He had a 6 or so game stretch where he played pretty good football. Limited the turnovers, completed a high percentage of passes (if this is something you value), and the Dolphins were winning. I hear you though. I just personally think the Dolphins are going to give him one more year, unless a Watson, Wilson or Rodgers inexplicably land in their laps. I think Jimmy is a little bit better of a QB than Tua is today, but I dont think Tua is developed yet. Maybe he gets one more year to show marked improvement? I think I would give him one more year if I was the Dolphins GM.
