Where do you all think he ends up, here is my thoughts...
SF- Only can see him staying with us if he takes a pay cut, and the salary cap is raised next season.
Wash- No franchise QB, the draft is weak at QB, and there's the Mayhew connection. Dan Snyder might not want to trade with us though...
Steelers- No real QB ready to start after Ben retires, and they are old school, I doubt they go into next season starting a rookie QB. I bet they draft one and let him sit.
Saints- Lot of questions for them. Tons of money tied up to T-Hill. What do they think about Winston? Could they afford Hill and Jimmy? They seem to prefer vet QB's over drafted ones.
Denver- Obviously Patton brought over his guy Bridgewater to Denver but how well has that worked out really? Maybe Peters helps us broker a trade with his old boss Elway. Who knows? They don't seem sold on Lock either. Lock could be included in a trade to us. Scangarello worked with him his rookie year and he has lots of starting experience. Could be a good backup for us?
Carolina- Real wild card. They switch QB's every year and it's not working. Coach on the hot seat and they need answers quick.
Texans- The most logical fit in my mind. GM drafted him in his NE days, and they have a real need. Mills might look somewhat promising, but can they afford to go into the season with him and Tyrod again? They finally will have many more picks in 2022 and have played better than expectations this year. I bet we trade him there on draft night for a day 2 pick.

If Jimmy is traded, I think DEN is the most likely trade partner. There are connections there and trades have been made between the two teams (Emmanuel Sanders, Jonas Griffith LB, Kapri Bibbs RB).
Fangio has got to be frustrated by now at Elway's inability to get him a QB he can work with. Jimmy may not be a long term solution but he will bring some stability to the position, barring injury.

I think everyone is missing the dark horse in this situation. If Rodgers bolts from GB, that is the first place that should come knocking. Think they're realizing Love was a mistake, Jimmy would almost be plug and play for LeFleur's offense.

Jimmy G in 2022 would be 13.21% of his team's cap space @27.5m.
Both were around 11th highest paid at their position.
I think the key differences is that Alex Smith was the first overall pick, I believe younger when traded, and routinely had coaching and offensive system changes, and didn't have too many injury concerns.
Jimmy G played behind Tom Brady and had more stability in SF than Smith did in his overall tenure.
Alex was 29 if I remember.
Jimmy has been a better qb overall than Alex was here. Lot of revisionist history on Alex in 2011 but he wasnt anything special at all. That offense was all field goals. Alex aslo had the shoulder that seemed to mess up 2 seasons of his.
So it comes down to how do you value the skillset Jimmy has and weigh that against the injury issues and flaws. The team that trades for him will be thinking they have the other pieces just need the QB.
Smith in 2011 will not have any impact on JG's value now.
If there is any basis for comparison, it will be how Washington valued Smith in the trade from KC. Smith got a $70M deal with Washington as part of that trade.
In the end, I don't think Smith factors into the current situation.

Wash- No franchise QB, the draft is weak at QB, and there's the Mayhew connection. Dan Snyder might not want to trade with us though. I can see this being a real possibility. But again, not sure what their front office truly thinks of Heinicke. His statistics are pretty similar to Jimmy's this year. And if they are planning to draft a QB, would it make sense to trade for Jimmy as a stopgap when they could just use Heinicke as one? Id say above average interest.
Steelers- No real QB ready to start after Ben retires, and they are old school, I doubt they go into next season starting a rookie QB. I bet they draft one and let him sit. This makes sense from the standpoint that the Steelers dont have a QB ready to start. But they have always been a vertical passing offense. Will they think Jimmy fits that? Not sure. Id say above average interest here.
Saints- Lot of questions for them. Tons of money tied up to T-Hill. What do they think about Winston? Could they afford Hill and Jimmy? They seem to prefer vet QB's over drafted ones. There is absolutely zero chance the Saints end up trading for Jimmy. Zero chance. People need to stop guessing that this could be a spot.
This depends on how good they believe they could be in 2022. I think the Broncos are at best a distant 3rd place as far as AFCW teams, and I actually (throwing up in my mouth thinking this) believe the Raiders are better than them too. I dont know that getting Jimmy tips the scales much. Id say average interest here.
Carolina- Real wild card. They switch QB's every year and it's not working. Coach on the hot seat and they need answers quick. I cant see this happening either. They have committed $19M in salary to Sam Darnold next year. And while I believe Jimmy to be the superior QB, are they really going to spend roughly $50M for a QB room that consists of Jimmy, Darnold and a third stringer? Id say this is very low chance.
The Texans are one of the worst teams in the NFL, and I cant see them making this move either. The best way for a s**t team to come back to relevance is to hit on draft picks that exceed their draft position. Trading away picks for an average QB simply because he might be better than what you currently have isnt the best way to go IMO. THen again, you never know what these GMs think. Davis Mills may look like nothing special, but he has been adequate for them. I could see them drafting a QB and letting Mills play another year. Id say below average interest here.
What do you all think?
Out of your list, I think the Redskins and the Steelers are the most realistic. I have reservations on whether or not those teams will make that move, but I think they are the best/most likely options of your list.

I see AR as a Steeler. What a nasty fit (in a good way-town and team)
Jimmy may be a Bronco but I have aero confidence in that team. Jimmy may as well but we will see.

Steelers seem like the obvious trade partner here.
1. Big Ben is for sure retiring.
2. No QB on their roster right now who can be a starter
3. Their draft slot is too high to draft the top talents at QB
4. They have a dominate defense and powerful running game, perfect for JimmyG.
5. Mike Tomlin wont settle for any rebuilding years. He needs a QB who can make Steelers a playoff contender.
Although it would be pretty cool for steelers to see them trade the farm for Kenny Pickett and keep him in Pitt where he is already a celebrity

I don't think they would put him behind that o line. That experiment wouldn't last long. They'd be legit SB contenders if they could somehow get Russ out of Seattle

I don't think Steelers will pay what is needed to get Wilson, they'll shy away from the Watson controversy and they've seen plenty of Baker. My bet is on JimmyG.

With Ben retiring, they add his $10M cap number to their current $42M surplus, plus an increase of $15+M in the new cap, and the Steelers will be able to compete with anybody for whatever QB they choose.
They could bring in Jimmy and still have plenty of cash to improve the OL.
