If he makes it to the NFCCG it's a first rdr.

If a team is desperate enough... maybe. An opposing GM would probably throw the "well a top 10 defense and running game, any QB could do that" when talking about his cap hit. He's still somewhere in between Brad Johnson and Rich Gannon on any given day. A weak QB class will help but someone is gonna have to fall in love with JG for a 1st, but a mid 2nd and taking over his contract is looking more probable if he can play decent against the cowboys.
The stigma of Shanny taking the ball out of his hands in past playoff games until he absolutely has to rely on him will follow any trade talks regardless of his heroics this past week. It helps... but I dont know if it helped enough to throw a 1st at him, unless its a very late first. Jimmy is clutch at the end of halves... but the drive that broke the Rams spirit only had one pass from Deebo. Is he the next Fitzmagic or can he be more than that? It's gonna be a gamble a GM is willing to take, even with advancing to round 2 or 3.

no he wont, he will go to the highest bidder...SF needs money and picks and his value will never be higher (plus you get nothing in return for him) Trey is the future and you can't waste rookie contract years in the league right now.
Let's revisit this after the SB. If we make it and win, we can bet on it. 👍🏻

One thing I meant to bring up the other day but didnt...
Are we all sure that Denver is "ready to win" now? I really dont see it. They won 7 games this year, only one of which came against a playoff team. These are the teams they beat:
New York Giants
New York Jets
Jacksonville
Washington
Dallas
LA Chargers
Detroit
This doesnt scream "ready to win" to me. They lost to pretty much every good team they faced. I get that having a great QB will change things, but I dont consider Jimmy a "great" quarterback. He is fine. But Denver isnt a team that is a competent QB away from being competitive. They are a team that could be a star QB away from being competitive. Especially because their current QB situation is meh and not downright horrible.
Going into 2022 with Jimmy, I still see them as the 4th best team in that division.

I think we can trade for a decent pick most likely second rounder. When healthy or partially healthy seasons, he's taken the team to the playoffs/Super Bowl.

On the Denver topic, the "win now" is based on having two highly drafted receivers and TE who have flashed but right now they are blaming QB play vs receiver play. They got some good RBs both young and old, they got a top 5 safety and a rookie CB that looks legit. Along with Chubb on the DL and some other peices on the lines to build around.
It's one of the better if not the best situations in the league to walk into, they just gotta sell the farm to find a QB. They are one of those situations that a coach could come in with a great staff, find a better journeyman QB and make some noise.

It is going to depend on supply and demand. I don't think SEA, GB, MIN, or MIA trade their starting QBs. If that remains true, here are the teams that need to upgrade their QB room - either a new starter or someone to develop/compete:
- Saints
- Broncos
- Steelers
- Lions
- Giants
- Texans
- Panthers
- Washington
- Eagles
Saints, Broncos, Steelers, and Washington are likely the best candidates given clear voids as a starter. Giants and Texans should have keen interest given direct ties to Garoppolo from the NE days. I'd suspect Eagles, Panthers, and Lions may be lower on the interest list given cap room and/or cap commitments in 2022.
My gut tells me we trade him for a similar deal as Carson Wentz. 2022 3rd with a conditional 2023 pick from 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

I think the Steelers will be a big player in the Jimmy race. Ben is gone they will have a late round 1st. which I would gladly give up to plug Jimmy into that lineup. Hell if they had him this year they would be serious contenders for a bowl trip.

But, unless, we can find another good backup it may make sense (QB-room wise) to keep the two good QB's we currently have, again.
Sure would be nice to have both next yr and be the best set team QB wise in the league when injury is factored in. How many teams this yr lost their QBs to either injury or covid? It had to be darn close to all of them. But this is also a $$$ and cents type decision, and that will have to be factored in also.

I like Javonte Williams but Melvin Gordon is a free agent. They have 2 corners and a starting safety as a free agent. I know Chubb is really good, but he is also coming off an injury and the team has a glaring need at edge pass rusher on the other side.
I hear you. Denver certainly isnt a bad landing spot. I just question whether or not this team really is in win now mode, as the clear 4th best team in their own division.

id take a 2nd in 2022 and a first in 2023 from a team (i.e. Steelers, Saints) that thinks they're ready to win now.
other than that im keeping him, maybe he;ll take a pay cut?

GB doesn't have a choice in trading.
