My point is no one is paying jimmy $22m next year. If he was a FA, he'd get an Andy Dalton type deal. SO, for someone to give us draft capital, we would have to agree to pay some of that money

I doubt that, the upcoming draft is weak in qbs and theres a lot of teams who would love to have jimmy, 22m is really nothing for a qb

Never say never in this league but I'd be shocked if someone gave us a pick and paid jimmy his current 2022 salary. He has missed something like 24 games in 4 years? Can't have that for a QB

Unfortunately you have to factor in the injuries and the fact that he'll be 31 next season. Not old but certainly not a young prospect. The disturbing thing about his injuries is they have all come on rather moderate contact. Not some big bone crushing hit. The thumb injury happened when he was tackled but it wasn't some brutal hit. The ankle happened when a player fell on him as he was backing up. Again not a big hit. The knee injury occurred when he slipped while going out of bounds. All his injuries point to a player that gets hurt easily. I don't know if Jimmy would be willing to rework his contract if he got traded to a team that he felt he could be successful with. That could determine how much a team would be willing to give up for him.
We may not see anything happen until March when his no trade clause expires.

With Jimmy's looks, if he was in prison you could get 100 cartons of smokes for him.
He doesn't get it…. Perfect response!

If a team traded for Jimmy, they must pay $27 for 2022?
Right. The contract is not absolute.Originally posted by BOI49er:

We can give him permission to negotiate a deal with a new team before the trade.
There's no guarantee that the acquiring team would want to negotiate a multiyear deal before Jimmy plays a single down for them. With the cap going up, I think a team can fit his $27 for one year without too much trouble, then if he earns an extension for his 2022 performance, that team will work a deal that pays him what he deserves. Jimmy might want his $27 in 2022 then bet on himself to earn another deal after 2022 as a free agent.
but it's up to the trading team on which way they want to go

Thanks for explaining. My prison knowledge comes from watching a lot of those prison movies. It seems like cigarettes are like gold in the joint. My real life experience is 7 hours in the drunk tank. That was me than enough for me.

Correct and there will be GMs/Coaches who don't have time to wait for a rookie to develop so they will look hard at JimmyG to get them enough wins to keep their jobs.

This is the biggest factor people are overlooking when thinking we won't get much of anything for Jimmy.

Pittsburgh/NO/Denver might not be willing to give up three first rounders for Russell or Deshaun, and JimmyG is the most acceptable third option.

Most prisons don't allow tobacco. Some guards here were fired for selling chew to inmates for $10 a can…probably 20 years ago.

Throw Cleveland and Washington into that mix.
Russ won't cost 3 at this point.
