Of course this is the outcome. Why? Because the FO had been telling us for 2 years prior that there's a huge advantage having a FQB on a rookie deal. Not sure why that logic suddenly wanes simply because the FO makes a mistake with trading their starting QB on schedule. You can love your team just like your family but not agree with everything they do - particularly when they contradict their own stated goals.
Lunch just earlier this month talked about the advantage of a rookie QB contract
"There's always an advantage," John Lynch told Keiana Martin of 49ers.com last week at the NFL Scouting Combine. "I remember being a broadcaster, and Russell Wilson [was drafted] in the third round. There was a huge advantage for years. And when they had to pay Russell, some of that depth, their sixth, seventh, and eighth D-linemen weren't quite as good as before because they couldn't continue to pay. So, there certainly are some realities that come with that."
Now it's heading into the 2nd yr of that rookie deal, we got no real in-game development from Lance, & no "advantage" thus far with that freed up cap space. Now they can take advantage of it after this yr and f**king better. There's NO excuses for 2023 FA. No excuses for not paying Bosa/Deebo or bringing in legit upgrades. none.
