Why did we let this guy go again for 3 mill a year?

Let's not forget the #49ers beat the #Packers in the NFC Championship with only 6 completions from Garoppolo. pic.twitter.com/t0EzsYKyqK

I didn't say Key will sign for $750, I said Hyder $750 wouldn't stop the Niners from bringing back Key.
Keys offer from the Niners was probably on the table before Hyder was available, and Key is probably out shopping at least in part for an offer for the Niners to match if he can't find a better team to showcase with.
I never said hyder's money meant Key wasn't coming back…it's another DL added to the roster which is up to 14 now. Imo that means they aren't gonna bring in another DL thru FA at this pt. Key wants more cash and will fee more than Hyder did.

I agree. I guess we disagree on what the definition of know commodities are. I don't consider Corbit and Daniels as known or as valuable a commodity as you do.
The CB situation was different for me, in that 60% of you plays you need 3 of them and the Niners had a total of 3. So they needed to either sign a backup, nickel or see if they could get a starter. The one they got was more analogous to a younger Tomlinson rather than a Corbett or a Daniels. Would I rather draft a guy or see what I got in Lenoire rather then pay starter money to Eli Apple or Ahkello, yes, even more so if I had multiple players that could fill in for that one spot and I already know what Lenoires worst looks like and there is a possibility that his best could be better than the aforementioned players.
Finally, Brunskill was a converted TE that played tacked was expected to be a backup C and started at G. If Compton can take a leap forward, I don't see why it is so hard for you to believe that he could too.

I'd be willing to be that if Key wanted to come back and accept the offer the team originally extended to him, they would bring him back. If the team is willing to keep 11 on the 53, I don't see them opposed to holding 15 on the 90 man roster. Plenty can happen between now and then

Now that Jimmy is seeing that his market is limited to nothing can lynch go to him and say "we can just cut you or we can renegotiate your contract"?
So let's see.. take a pay cut to stick around as backup... or be able to hit the FA market pick my destination freely start a fresh new chapter. Tough call.
