What will Jimmy's trade value be in the offseason?

Why did we let this guy go again for 3 mill a year?

LOL

You could tally up all of his playoff games if that'd make you feel better. The others weren't much better.

I didn't say Key will sign for $750, I said Hyder $750 wouldn't stop the Niners from bringing back Key.

Keys offer from the Niners was probably on the table before Hyder was available, and Key is probably out shopping at least in part for an offer for the Niners to match if he can't find a better team to showcase with.

I never said hyder's money meant Key wasn't coming back…it's another DL added to the roster which is up to 14 now. Imo that means they aren't gonna bring in another DL thru FA at this pt. Key wants more cash and will fee more than Hyder did.

I'd be willing to be that if Key wanted to come back and accept the offer the team originally extended to him, they would bring him back. If the team is willing to keep 11 on the 53, I don't see them opposed to holding 15 on the 90 man roster. Plenty can happen between now and then
Media slacking again today. Come on I need my meltdown over nothing.

I agree. I guess we disagree on what the definition of know commodities are. I don't consider Corbit and Daniels as known or as valuable a commodity as you do.

The CB situation was different for me, in that 60% of you plays you need 3 of them and the Niners had a total of 3. So they needed to either sign a backup, nickel or see if they could get a starter. The one they got was more analogous to a younger Tomlinson rather than a Corbett or a Daniels. Would I rather draft a guy or see what I got in Lenoire rather then pay starter money to Eli Apple or Ahkello, yes, even more so if I had multiple players that could fill in for that one spot and I already know what Lenoires worst looks like and there is a possibility that his best could be better than the aforementioned players.

Finally, Brunskill was a converted TE that played tacked was expected to be a backup C and started at G. If Compton can take a leap forward, I don't see why it is so hard for you to believe that he could too.

they're both starting guards in the NFL that played good football. Corbett was part of the best pass-blocking OL in the NFL. Both were paid because they don't suck. Both have years worth of film backing it up.

Compton didn't take a leap forward. He was forced to play RT and was horrible in pass-pro. He can run-block which is fine, but not gonna get you paid a ton in FA (hence his contract with Denver). He was bad in pass-pro, we all watched the games. The right side of the OL constantly was giving up pressures and one of the reasons Kittle would have to stay in and help PP.

Brunksill has been in the league for years and started multiple seasons now. He was literally one of the worst pass-blocking OG in football this yr. What leap forward is there from that? Worst PBLK OG to maybe below avg? You want to throw your faith in a UDFA guard who has not been good for years to magically be able to protect Lance? I'm sorry that's a horrible way to build a OL. He is who he is and shouldn't be a starter let alone someone that you can't replace. Just because you have a body at a position doesn't mean the position is set.

I don't see the difference overall with signing ward. They had Mosely/Thomas/Demo, there's your starters according to you. Why spend as much as they did for Ward? Why not just bring back DJ and a couple other low end DBs and say it's fixed. I mean we drafted Thomas and Demo so they must be good....we just need to give them time.

But don't you want to see what Alex Barrett and Chris Slayton can do? I mean all they need is a shot. No point in signing Key when we already have guys like that, right?

Now that Jimmy is seeing that his market is limited to nothing can lynch go to him and say "we can just cut you or we can renegotiate your contract"?

So let's see.. take a pay cut to stick around as backup... or be able to hit the FA market pick my destination freely start a fresh new chapter. Tough call.

It depends what is most important to him. If most fans are right, and other teams don't value him as much as the Niners do, no one will offer him more money than what the Niners will to be the backup. Especially if he gets released after preseason starts or right before the season.

Yup. Ppl like to use that game as some hit on JG. GB couldn't stop the run for bleep that day.

So does his winning % count for that game or not....

He has zero good playoff games. Cowboys game in the first half was his best performance and he almost threw it away.
After I saw that Subway commercial with JG last night it struck me as kind of weird that we never saw any major commercials with him in it until he became available for trade. It's almost like the Niners are advertising Jimmy as much as Subway is advertising their crappy sandwiches.

Yup playoff dub. Granted he didn't do much that one but it would be too much work to go through every single game over every QB career to say which wins were deserved or not. Kind of accepted that the record has to be taken with a grain of salt imo. It's a stat but not the only stat. It's like saying would you count a TD a QB throws if it clangs off a DB's hands and the receiver catches and scores. Yes, you would.
Sure he can be traded. But it will be when he is healthy and can throw. Which is summer time. Or when a big name QB gets hurt next year. Which would mean next years picks. Which is OK.

Yeah the guys saying he can't be traded are correct. For right now that's true. But it doesn't mean never. That's where they are wrong.

Should have cut him as soon as he had surgery...
