He's not even our backup, anymore.

Is Shanahan the type to not just give a guy the starting job because of his draft position? Damn straight. Lance just might have to earn it.

Lance is the starter....Jimmy said goodbye and they did whatever they could to move Jimmy. They paid nasty Nate backup money. There won't be a competition and I find it unlikely that he's even on the roster once he's cleared.

You cut off the other parts of which I said. Read the whole thing.

You had 3 player currently recovering from a torn ACL Gallup/Winston/Godwin all 3 got paid. Bud dupree recovering from an ACL got $85M last yr….a ACL recovery is by far more extensive then Jimmy's issue. If a team wanted Jimmy that wouldn't have been an massive issue.

There was half a dozen openings and nothing. No one wants him dude.

truth. Nobody want him.

simply the truth of it. I know the talent level isn't close but you just had a team give up years of high end picks and pay Watson $230M FGTD. All with 22+ sexual assault allegations and a massive PR hit in front of them. He will likely be suspended and the Browns even planned that out financially for him (which is slimy as s**t).

A shoulder recovery which reportedly has him on track in advance of training camp...is not gonna stop a team from trading some day 2 picks and redoing his contract if they actually think he's worth being their starter.

This is quite true. Unless there's a comparable guy who won't come to training camp late — like Matt Ryan (who is actually better, truth to tell, but had very little help around him the last couple of years).

Trying to help Jimmy but it sure seems like he was more about himself. The team should have been about the business once the season concluded

Jimmy knew he had to play well this season as this was his audition to the rest of the league and this was his last run with the guys

We didn't owe Jimmy anything more than a thank you and the best trade we could make for him

If we ever got a two for him at any point he should have been gone within a week of the first moment we could of moved him no matter what team unless someone could beat it

I'm patient as a fan but free agency has past and we got a couple guys but now we need to get to the business of extending Deebo and Bosa

We still have Jimmy and something tells me that if his shoulder was this bad he either should have sat out the last couple games or immediately had surgery once the season was over

I just can't see how things have been managed properly thus far

Jimmy should have went for a 2. I don't care what the hater say about being right about this..."See I told you he sucked and nobody valued him!" I do not think that was the case. For all the good Lynch has done, I think he and Kyle botched this one. Jimmy is definitely worth ONE 2nd round pick. Maybe not two. I think they may have offended some people and other GM's along the way. maybe asked for a 1st who knows. But he should have went for a 2

We better hope. If Trey can't beat out such garbage as Jimmy we are in a world of trouble. I think the anti-Jimmy crowd is terrified.

Ya 27 mil dollars is definitely gonna sit on the bench.
forgive if this has already been suggested (been out of pocket lately) but it seems clear to me the only way to get rid of Jimmy is to package him with another player. Someone who would earn at least a first rounder plus. Someone at their peak, just like Buckner. Obviously, I would prefer to keep him, just like I did with Buckner, but hey it's a business. Say goodbye to Deebo.

Or just cut him and not trade a franchise player...what are we even talking about?

The shoulder injury changed the dynamics of trading Jimmy. Nobody expected a shoulder sprain would morph into an offseason injury and a 4+ month rehab. Nobody. You can blame, Jimmy, the 49ers, or both, but in reality - I don't think that was foreseen by either party. The decision to operate was at the worst possible time for the free agency period, and the 49ers and Jimmy are going to have to deal with the consequences of that decision. I don't think Jimmy is owed any favors after that and should be traded for whatever the 49ers can get to free up the cap space needed to sign valuable free agents. I"m with NY85, I don't see Jimmy playing here or backing up Trey. He does have value. Somebody will want him. It's just not going to be the value that the 49ers thought to get from him in a trade previous to his shoulder operation.

Every so often someone comes around and suggests trading Deebo. I cannot fathom how stupid that would be. Our offense would be straight garbage without him
