What will Jimmy's trade value be in the offseason?

His reasoning for him not being ready is comical and clearly he's a bias Jimmy lover. Bummer the league doesn't think like him.

People act like Jimmy did something special here. When in reality he was 29th in the league in passing attempts and lead the league in YAC yards. He was an avg starting NFL QB which doesn't mean he's junk...there were worse situations in the league. He's Alex Smith that turns the ball over more.

So while being 29th in the league in passing with one of the lowest depth attempt rates for years, he has one of the highest INT%. Do people not understand how bad that is? He can't stay on the field either. I thought he would have some sort of market because QB play is that bad...but nope even I was wrong there. No one wants him.

My god if you look at all that and say Lance isn't ready what the f**k do they think his stats are gonna be? 50INTs and 10 passing TDs lol? I was listening to a pod and they said if you take Lance's stats from this yr extrapolate it over the course of a full yr it was something like 5K total yards and 35 total TDs or something around that. Now give the kid an actual off season where he's the one getting all the reps from day 1 and let him play. There will be up and downs, but let's be real Jimmy was a roller-coaster all the same.

Jimmy gets us to the NFCC his two healthy seasons. His expectations when he returns is Super Bowl or bust. That is to be expected when Jimmy returns. With Trey it's not. It'd be unfairand flat out stupid to expect Super Bowl with him.

The goal is to win not cater to impatient fans.

lol beat out...he's not gonna be here to beat out. He's gone as soon as he passes his physical

Don't think so. He'd be gone right now if they wanted him gone. They never, not once committed to Trey or that Jimmy returning was off the table.

Trey is not ready. He's a 21 year old prospect that played in scrub league for a single season. Shanny and Lynch's job is to win right now and Jimmy gets us to the NFCC while Trey needs his training wheels. The only way we are trading Jimmy is if we get a rightful deal. If not we keep winning with Jimmy even though the fans hate winning for whatever weird reason.

What did he say that was factually incorrect?

1. Has either Lynch or Shanahan declared trey the starter? I don't recall reading that anywhere. Someone enlighten me.
2. Trey is 21 and he played in a scrub league for essentially 1 season.
3. Jimmy was the qb of a team that went to the superbowl amd nfccg.
4. Trey is in need of playing time to get better ie training wheels.

Straight from Jimmy's mouth...

"As far as the whole trade situation, John's (general manager John Lynch) been very clear with it," Garoppolo said on Tuesday. "I think they're trying to do the best for me, I'm trying to do the best for them. We're working together on that -- really haven't made too much progress on it, but I think things will start happening here pretty quickly."

"We've talked a little bit. I think more will happen in the days to come," Garoppolo said. "But yeah, these guys have been very up front about the whole thing. Just talking to John yesterday about finding the right destination and whatever the future holds, just doing it the right way. I've got a long career ahead of me. I'm excited about it. I'm excited about the opportunities to come. I just want to go to a place where they want to win. That's really what I'm in this game for. I'm here to play football. I'm here to win football games. As long as I've got that and good people around me, I think the rest will take care of itself."

"It's been a fun ride guys and I really appreciate you for that," Garoppolo said. "And yeah, I'll miss you guys. So thank you guys again. Faithful, thank you very much for everything. It's been crazy man, just all the comebacks at Levi's, comebacks on the road, ups and downs, it's been a hell of a ride guys. I love you guys. So, see ya."

They spent cash on a backup QB, the head beat reporter for SF came out and said Lance will get all the snaps in OTA/TC and Jimmy more than likely will be cut after he passes a physical...maybe a team trades for him between then or a QB gets hurt but he's not gonna be on the team in 2022.

Enough with this "Jimmy gets us to the NFCC" poppycock. He's been carried by the team. And you're gonna eat serious crow when Trey starts winning games like your precious Jimmy.

Acting like Jimmy and his 29th in passing attempts is the only QB that could have gotten those teams to the NFCC

You don't invest 3 1sts to not play the QB. Teams don't want Jimmy and there's a reason for that. He's gone and that cash will be used to pay our rookie contracts have for the 2022 season and help with extensions. You know like a good organization does. Not pay a backup $27M.

I stopped liking the players a long time ago.. there's no reason to get attached like that.

and your post above is why i posted what i said lol The talent, offseason workouts and in the games we've seen just gives you more confidence that this kid can do it

it's just blind hate for Trey,

Did you listen to Jimmy's last presser? Did you not listen to Lynch talk about moving Jimmy and how they were gonna work together to make it happen? Did you not see that they paid Sudfeld backup money. You DO NOT pay that type of cash for a QB3. Most teams don't even care 3 QBs on the roster unless they're basically free. Their plan was NOT to keep Jimmy and start him in 2022. That ship sailed as soon as he threw his last ball which was an INT.

I'm so f**king tired of hearing so an so isn't ready...it's the biggest BS excuse for the we love Jimmy crowd. You have no clue who's ready...you don't watch the practices. Everything JL/KS have said hasn't lead to "he isn't ready" so cut the crap.

Oh and this is what they said about Trey at the end of the year.

What gives you two confidence that Trey Lance is ready to take over as the starting quarterback, if that's the route you choose to take?

KS: "Just being around him all year. I thought he had the ability we saw in college. We knew it was at a different level and we knew we were very limited on the amount he got to play, especially missing the last year of COVID. So you have to go off what you see on tape and believing in the person and we did. Having him here for a whole year, I feel stronger about that. He's got the ability to do it. He's got the mind to do it. And I think he's the type of person who can handle all the stuff that goes with it."

JL: "Yeah. I would just echo that. He is who we thought he was and probably even stronger. You have to have a lot to you. You have to have a lot of substance to play quarterback in this league both physically and from just a who you are standpoint. And I think Trey checks both those boxes and what you know is the things that Kyle and his staff have identified for Trey on things to work with. This guy's focus, his work ethic. He'll have a plan and it will be a comprehensive one and when you have the talent and you have that ability. Then I think what he showed me is that in the moments, and there were few, but when he had an opportunity to go play, I saw that competitive greatness that you look for in people who are going to lead your organization. And so even though we saw it, however brief it was, I saw it. And so it gives me a lot of belief that it's there and that he's exactly who we thought he was when we picked him. And we're really excited about that."

Maiocco also said Lance will get all the reps in OTAs/TC and the most likely outcome for Jimmy is he will be cut after he passes a physical, unless some team calls in between that time to trade for him.

Lance is the starter in 2022, thoughts and prayers for you.

You're using a quote from the end of the year lmao. Have you missed the past couple of months and everything said/done since the season ended?

The shoulder injury changed the dynamics of trading Jimmy. Nobody expected a shoulder sprain would morph into an offseason injury and a 4+ month rehab. Nobody. You can blame, Jimmy, the 49ers, or both, but in reality - I don't think that was foreseen by either party. The decision to operate was at the worst possible time for the free agency period, and the 49ers and Jimmy are going to have to deal with the consequences of that decision. I don't think Jimmy is owed any favors after that and should be traded for whatever the 49ers can get to free up the cap space needed to sign valuable free agents. I"m with NY85, I don't see Jimmy playing here or backing up Trey. He does have value. Somebody will want him. It's just not going to be the value that the 49ers thought to get from him in a trade previous to his shoulder operation.

What trade scenarios do you envision for Jimmy?

Tough to say. His current contract is a hinderance to a possible trade. The 27 million cap hit - isn't a permanent one if a team is willing to re-work it with a trade for Jimmy as part of the deal. I can see a trade to a bottom feeder team, and both the 49ers, Jimmy, and the new team reworking that 27 million cap hit into something more reasonable for the team he's going to.

Conversely, the Hoyer trade is a possible model. Hoyer was cut, so the Patriots could get him, and I believe the 49ers got Cassius Marsh from that cut. There wasn't a formal trade deal, but I think it was an informal agreement to cut both players so that both players can go to the other team. For this to work, all four parties have to have some sort of understanding that this is how it's supposed to happen.

I think as Jimmy heals his shoulder and can prove his rehab is going well and/or his arm is still good and he's able to demonstrate that he can throw, then his trade value now starts to rise. I can see more teams become interested in him at that point where a possible trade can happen.

And Sudfield is not our #2 QB.

For the right price, yeah. He's more valuable to get us to a NFCC than a 3rd or 4th pick. Pretty basic stuff.

-Why would they when they've been trying to move Jimmy? There's no benefit to doing that. They've all but said it point blank multiple times now.
-Trevor Lawrence played in the ACC for years and played like dogs**t this yr...what's your point? He got his red shirt year in SF. It's time to play now.
-Case Keenum went to a NFCC and Rex Grossman went to a SB, who cares.

He said Jimmy should start..ie not playing to get better.

Here's some more facts

Sudfied paid backup money.
Lynch said they were trying to move Jimmy
Jimmy said they were upfront with him and that was the plan (to trade him).

SF plans were pretty clear. Lance is the starter in 2022. Get trade compensation for Jimmy. No one wanting Jimmy doesn't change part one...like most teams when you can't find a trade partner and have a bloated contract for a player you're not starting, you get cut. They won't cut him until he's healthy and they get that $7.5M back. Gives them more time to find a trade if something happens elsewhere. Either way he's more than likely not on the team in 2022.

The plan was clearly to start Lance because they were trying to move Jimmy....just because the league doesn't think Jimmy is worth trading for that doesn't change who the starter is.

He will more than likely be cut once cleared, unless something happens to another teams QB between that time. It's not hard to get.
