He's injured. He's also better than Lock, Mariota, Darnold, Trubisky, Winston, and maybe Wentz. So he's still a better starter than 5 new starters. But injured he's behind all of them.

Middle of the pack/average at best, which has value on a bad team or a team that is loaded but lacking a QB. Problem is his injuries takes his value down. The contract isn't the problem people make it out to be because he can easily be extended on a new team, have that money converted to a signing bonus, and get a deal more in line with his true value as a starter.
I, like many of us, would've preferred the trade had taken place already because the pick itself had the potential of landing us a starter at RG or safety. We still have 3 day 3 picks but one extra gives us more room to make a luxury pick.
