You asked me to name a player
Name me a football player…and yeah teams are more than willing to take Kevin Durant with a torn achilles compared to Jimmy G.

"Oh, here the real kicker, once you do pass your physical. That $7.5M disappears and the only cash you got coming to you is your $1.4M prorated bonus"
Jimmy G: yeahhh your fired lol
"Jimmy you already destroyed your chances of ever getting the $27M or any big contract ever again"
"The best thing we can do is figure out a way to drag this out and hope these guys in San Francisco keep you on the roster next season cause I'm going to be frank based on what I'm hearing no one else wants you Jimmy."
"Hows your thumb feeling Jimmy?"
Jimmy; "Thumbs great Iv'e already started throwing and getting ready for next season, its actually my shoulder that's still bothering me."
"Your shoulder is bothering you? Let's go ahead and have that shoulder looked at by my buddy who's one of the best shoulder specialist in the country, he does all of the shoulder repairs on all of my clients. This will activate your injury clause"
Jimmy; "Thanks bud I see what you did there."

Exactly, Just like not having a physical, is not the same as failing one.

assumptions are not facts, he did not take a physical so how does anyone know he would have failed a physical?
Here's what we do know:
- We traded multiple first round picks and a 3rd round pick to draft T. Lance in the first round (#3 overall) of the draft last year.
- No team wanted to trade for Jimmy
- Jimmy's no trade clause expired when the new league year started
- Getting surgery activated Jimmy's Injury clause
- Jimmy didn't have surgery until one week before free agency (New League year)
- Trade discussions usually happen at the scouting combine (agents and F/O folks generally figure out what the trade market is)
- Jimmy is still on our team with a injury settlement attached to his contract
- Jimmy never took a physical (so he didn't fail a physical)
Do you think Jimmy's agent couldn't find one team at the combine that was willing to pay him more that $7.5M if he was released?
Do you think Jimmy's agent had a long term contract agreed to with a team and the Niners demands are what tanked the deal?
Because those are the only 2 scenarios where having a surgery (that isn't guaranteed to be successful, just ask Trent Taylor) is more advantageous to Jimmy that allowing it to heal on its own (if it looked like it was about to do so)
Playing surgical games that you don't have to play with your throwing shoulder is not the wisest move for a QB.

Why would he not have one lol? If a team wanted Jimmy they would have traded for him….his surgery didn't stop a team for traded for him. His $7.5M means absolutely nothing because it's gone the moment he's cleared. Quit acting like they made up his injury.

This! And his $7.5M is only GTD until he's healthy. That s**t isn't in his bank account

No it doesn't. No agent is gonna make you get surgery you don't need and lose out on millions of dollars. That $7.5m is only gtd until he's cleared. Why would they fake that s**t so he has no trade market? It hurts him more than anything.

So give up a huge extension for 7.5 million? 10% of 7.5million over 10% of 20 + million?

LOL, this conspiracy theory about Jimmy is funny.
Say what you will about the guy's skill level, but the man played through a chipped bone and torn ligament in his throwing hand. I can only imagine how much that hurts. He endured a season where he had to answer questions on a near-weekly basis about how he felt being the starter and having his replacement under him. And he played and competed his butt off.
This is a competitive QB that wants to win a Super Bowl.
Ideally, Jimmy would've gone into the offseason healthy, and get traded to a competitive team of his choice while he still had his No Trade Clause and a team was willing to absorb his salary as-is. The shoulder surgery hurts him immensely. At the rate this is going, he's not going to get cut/traded until his shoulder is healed, and it's going to be relatively late in the offseason when all the other QB dominoes have fallen. As a free agent, he's likely going to end up on a bad team and/or a bad QB situation, presumably at a lower contract price than his $27M. Or, if he stays, he could still earn the $27M, but it's gonna be a long awkward season being on a team that, at the end of the day, doesn't want him and has his replacement.
The surgery needed to happen for his long-term health as a QB, but it really hurt him in the short-run on where he goes in terms of QB situation this offseason.

He saved you from getting a lot of massively over paid FA's. Who cares? Thats great. The team that wins at FA typically loses. The Rams TRADED for most of their key guys if you want to use that example. They also DRAFTED Aaron Donald.
If there is an injury he can play and this team can go far. If Trey Lance is not ready he also can play.
It's not that terrible having him on the roster and he clears the books after next year. He also doesn't prevent us from extending our own guys. You can future load those contracts.
It's not as bad as portrayed here.
