Somebody tell me how our leading interceptions person is Jimmie Ward with 2? Who has played well BTW. But jeez this team needs more interceptions. So you either need more pass rush. Because we don't have much outside of Bosa. Or better cover corners. Or both. But that seems like a pretty low total for the interceptions leader IMO. Which indicates a problem. Mostly we can see it on game day. Honestly I didn't know the total was this low for our interceptions leader until I looked. That's pretty low with the season almost over.

Outside CBs has never been a strength since 1995 imo. It's pathetic and our front office better get the best damn FA or trade for a cb this next season.
Ariz-Hopkins
Rams-Cupp Woods and OBJ
Seattle-DK and Lockette
That's just our division and now that refs allow for more holding by OLs it's even more imperative not to rely on pass rush to elevate cb play.

I watch these other teams and they got players like Jalen Ramsey. The Ravens DB's get interceptions. I just see so many far superior secondary's compared to ours. It's pathetic.

9ers have had some ballhawking Safeties over the years, not sure how Ward went from ballhawk in college to lame duck in the NFL. From Merton Hanks to Tony Parrish to Zack Bronson to Dashon Goldson to Eric Reid and now this…..Ward…. Oh C'mon!!!!

They have sometimes done better at Safety. At Corner they haven't been great since Deion. But our entire secondary just needs to create more turnovers. I see other teams create turnovers in their secondary. We just struggle so much with that. We are underwhelming there.

well, our secondary is awful since deion sanders left. that is the part neither coach really addressed. we haven't had a shutdown corner or a great safety for 25 years. no wonder why we don't have any SB wins after deion left.

Shany and Lynch seem to allocate most of their resources on the front 7. Hopefully they are learning that they cannot ignore the CB position.

Possibly, ryans doesn't know what he's doing for coverage.

It's definitely a problem.

They do have most invested in the front 7.

The most frustrating part is we had a good amount of quality options early in the season but waited until we are in dire straights due to injuries then sign slow penalty prone Norman. I'm not a Lynch hater but that falls on him

Like others have said, and I have said for many years, our cornerbacks have been complete s**te since 1995. Sherm had a decent year, Ahmed Plummer and Walt Harris had maybe 1 decent year each.
But it blows my mind how we have been this bad at cornerback for a f**king quarter century. You'd figure the team would accidentally even find a good corner back in the time since f**king batman forever was in theaters to now.
