I can only hope he tries that against Bosa Arik Key Ebukam Street, Givens DJ Jones, and somebody i forgot. Our DL is going to be a very large surprise for Dak…and McCarthy.
DL is good with two good Edges, but their Run D is not so good. Will be interesting to see how they go about handling Deebo, Aiyuk, Juaun Jennings, Elijah, au jus, and kittle. If they double kittle like LA did, then just more easy balls for Aiyuk, Debo, JUaun, et al.
If Dak really holds onto the ball for 4+ seconds, he may have a long day. No question with Jimmy's 2,3 -2.7 seconds, we have an advantage. Micah parsons is a stud, so is DL Lawrence. They are #1 in INTs (one guy has 11 of them), and have decent DBs. Zeke is a great runner, but his best days are behind him. They do have a very good #2RB.
Jimmy has the torn thumb ligaments and bone chip fracture, making Dak a better QB than we have…physically. Plus he has thrown for a ton of yards. We'll see how our DL allows Dak to …well, that is the question…what will our DL do to Dak?. I dont think they are contemplating our DL being as good and deep as it is.
Their 4 top WRs, now down to 3, are all Aces. Lamb being the best. But our DBs E-man and Ambry are playing better and with Dak under pressure, who knows which QB plays better. Note: if Jimmy goes down, we got a superb #2QB. If Dak goes down…unh…cowboys are in a world of hurt.
Coaching? advantage 49ers.
Bottom line: our DL, and now DEEP OL…may very well carry the game…IOW, we may win with way better trenches. Plus we got depth in both. And coaching advantage. They got stars…so do we. Be interesting how kyle goes about game planning.
Perhaps bubba, but those of us who have "sensational brilliance" know that Dak is the better QB even when both are healthy. Dak is a top 10 QB. Jimmy somewhere in the next 10 probably. So, I think this will come down to Ryans making him and his protection make mistakes. We are going to
really depend upon confusing coverages to make Dak hesitate long enough for our pass rush to get to him. I'll say this about Ryans: he knows how to confuse QBs and pass protectors:
A perfectly orchestrated zone blitz. Warner forces the guard to go inside, Ward forces the RB to block outside (RBs should be blocking in to out usually, so good job Ward), and Greenlaw gets in Stafford's face. Meanwhile,on the back end, Ebukam plays it perfectly, chasing the deep in just long enough to confuse Stafford before expertly moving to the shorter route, passing off the deeper one.
This play here is defensive brilliance. We'll need a lot of that to make Dak throw picks and take sacks. Because he's really, really good at throwing under pressure. But he's also great at throwing when defenses drop 7. In fact, he's better when they do that, according to NFL.com (
here). So, we'll need to really mix it up, and knock the crap out of him.
