SF 49ERS at Cowboys Pregame Thread - 2021 Season Wild Card game

crap. I figure after we win we will have to play Packers on a short week! There is no way the Cards/Rams winner will play on Sat so their NFC game will be Sunday which means we would have to be on Saturday, being the other NFC game. hope I am wrong.

Philly might upset the Bucs (unlikely but not an aberration, the way the Bucs lost to the Saints recently!) in the earlier game, thus we might wind up at AZ or back at SoFi next weekend. One Dallas fan arbitrarily wrote on their Zone that the victory over the Rams took the sails out of our prowess (not verbatim), but it could easily be the opposite: we are rolling with momentum and as healthy as we've been all year!

It looks like it'll be wet and very windy in TB tomorrow. That'll even the odds a bit.

Its clear and sunny right now. I'm in sarasota about to fly back to Nebraska👎Rain is in the forecast.
Lets get it! This has 49ers pounding Dallas to an early exit all over it. Limit turnovers on offense to 1, take away 1 from dallas and play relatively flag free on D and we win.

110 pages already. Wow.
Better make sure they have the right spikes on for the game. Dallas has turf right?
I'm repping 49ers on my flight back home. Unfortunately I'm stopping in Houston instead of Dallas on the way. That would have been cool to walk through the airport getting scoffed at.

I find it interesting how both teams are viewed from the mainstream media. I get it, the Cowboys are a big deal, Jerry Jones has done a tremendous job building that brand. That roster is loaded with homegrown talent. They have been killing it in the draft. But you would think that the 49ers are full of journeymen and late round draft picks that overachieved and "snuck" into the playoffs. Are not Trent Williams, Tyshun Raeqan Samuel, Nick Bosa, George Kittle, Fred Warner, Juice, and to a lesser extent Armstead and Gould, elite and among their peers at their respective positions?

"If the 49ers play at their ceiling, they can't touch Dallas at theirs. I know the 49ers have Bosa and Armstead, but they are not better than Lawrence and Gregory. Me: Wut???? I like the 49ers receivers, but their ceiling is not as high as Cooper and Ceedee at their ceiling."-Ryan Clark, ESPN

"The Cowboys are just better." -Skip Bayless, FS1 and Cowboys diehard fan.

So pretty much everyone thinks we can't hang with the big boys because of our quarterback?

This week they put the AFC on Saturday and the NFC on Sunday (except one game), so I hope that will continue another week.
I hope they do that… it will be more fair, since packers already have had a much longer rest than Niners, and then give Niners only 6 days?

Cynthia Frelund of NFL network predicts Packers vs Cowboys in the NFCC game based on her "statistical" analysis (in other words, she simulates Madden one hundred times and derives her data from that).

will be funny to hear her spin when the Niners knock out both

2 issues

1) The Cowboys are the media darlings. You can imagine after 2 decades if irrelevance, media heads, fans, and pundits are hoping to see this once storied franchise emerge from the ashes.

2) A lot of these media heads grew up watching the 49ers bash on their favorite and/or respective teams. Of course they will pick against the 49ers.

-how many numb nuts picked the Vikings when they played the 2019 Niners in the divisional? Based on jealousy alone ? I remember pregame Rodney Harris picked the Vikings to win because "the Niners players were too loose" pregame.

let ''em be. It just makes it sweeter to watch Monday morning when these same pundits start their spin…

I think the injuries this year led a lot of people to this misunderstanding. We had a rotating list of marginal players or players playing out of position in just about every game. If you are an idiot (Clark and Bayless) or just regurgitate conventional wisdom (also Clark and Bayless) it is easy to totally misunderstand the team showing up tomorrow.

Eagles are a different example of this. I never paid any attention them but bought the narrative that they were the best running team Dallas has faced. Got educated here about why the Eagles narrative is mostly wrong.
Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (foot) was removed from the team's final injury report.

After sitting out Week 18, Pollard practiced fully all week for first time since going down in early December. Coach Mike McCarthy said Pollard "looks like he's back to 100 percent." The 49ers have one of the league's top run defenses but allow over five catches per game to running backs, potentially giving Pollard the touch edge over Ezekiel Elliott in the first round of the playoffs.
