when the camera pans to the crowd, they are just clapping and not even yelling lol

I don't know about travel, but I think Bay Area fans don't realize that the 49ers are a NATIONAL team, much like the Cowboys. A lot of that stems from the success of the team in the 8"s and 90s, and a lot of us (I live in NY) have passed that fandom to my kids and family's kids. So now I have my own little Niner army cheering the team on.
if you're asking about a traveling fan base, think more smaller local teams like the Steelers or Packers. They're fans travel well….

We don¨t need a "traveling fanbase" because we have fans everywhere.

Living on the east coast, I've gone to way more away games. We're, without a doubt, up there with the best traveling fanbases. Faithful, Steelers, Packers, Giants, Bears.

It's not about the traveling part, it is more of the fact that we have fans all across the country. I was part of the 2014 regular season invasion, and quite a few of my peeps and the other Niner fans I encountered were local in the area. Same for when I went to the Saint's game in 2019. There were some traveling fans at each of those games, but many were from the local areas. Just goes to show we have a huge, nation-wide fan base.

I'm a Niners fan from Michigan. I've only been to one Niners' game in person, sadly, but at least it was a good one. Went to Detroit for the Handshakegate Game. I believe the Lions were 5-0 at the time and the Niners were 4-1. Lots of red in the stadium that day as well for a Big Niners W.
Basically I'm backing up what you're saying, it's not that we necessarily travel well, we just have fans all over the USA, me being a representative of the Red and Gold from Michigan.

It's fans all over the country. That's it. A nation wide fan base.

I went to the Detroit game this season and I was amazed how many 49ers fans there were. I must of talked to at least 50 fans at the game. I did not meet a single person from the bay area. 49er fans are from all over the nation. I always thought fans rooted for their home team or where they grew up. People came from all over the states with way more 49er gear than I had on. I grew up just outside San Francisco and I couldn't imagine rooting for a team so far away from home. Very interesting

That's true. There are some all around the country for those teams. Mostly because of their winning history.

For many of us, the 80s and 90s teams captivated a huge number of fans. My first home game was in 2018 and have a handful of fellow Niner friends who have only been to away games. The likes of Montana, Rice, Lott, made many a Faithful.
